Stoner asked me to introduce myself. I took him rockhounding in Las Cruces. Between the two of us and his wife (a coworker) we pretty well went nuts that day. Lots of fun and I learned a lot. I tried a Chicago Electric tumbler against Ed's advise...had to return it and just ordered a Thumler Tumbler yesterday. Can't wait to do 'baby's first tumble.' MaryAnn is my real name - not esp creative in giving myself nicknames. Lookinng forward to learning from y'all.

Hi Maryann, Welcome to the forum and happy to have you join us. Sounds like you guys had a real blast out there and it appears Ed got you addicted already. If you read back through the posts in the members photos, you'll find pics with recipes on how different members polished their rocks. It can be a great help. Go back probably a year, maybe two and you'll find lots of info. Cher

Welcome! You'll like the Thumlers, especially compared to the CE. Started with a CE, and now have 4 Thumlers rolling as well.

Hi MaryAnn, glad to have you here amongst the rest of my rockhound friends. And you thought you were a rockhound before you met me! If you have questions, just ask, somebody will know the answer and if they don't, they'll help you find the answer. I know I'm a bad influence, but I must say, it wasn't very difficult to influence you. Can't wait to see how your first tumble comes out.

Thanks all! What a kind and welcoming bunch you are. I confess I've been a rockhound since I was a kid. This is just one of the best places I've ever lived to indulge my hobby. I even mentioned it in my job interview. Was afraid they'd think I was a geek, but it hasn't hurt me - yet. Am making lots of good friends via rocks. Sands - I'll need some help with the relatively big rocks I picked up - we'll stay in touch.

Kim - Probably not. I'm not colocated with my sig other and she's coming for a visit that weekend - if all works out and the weather in Denver cooperates. I love rocks, but she may have other plans like hiking and sunning herself after leaving the chilly upper Midwest. If I can get her talked into it maybe... But there's also the Deming thing going on the same weekend. We'll see. I'd love to meet y'all though. Will y'all come back to TX next year?
