Hi, everyone. I'm a jewelry maker in western NC and I like rocks. I prefer to do most of my work in semi-precious stones. There's so much beauty in nature. It's hard to improve upon that. I've had an interest in rocks since I was a little girl picking treasures out of the driveway. Now my youngest son and I collect rocks where ever we go. My biggest gripe is that it is sometimes difficult to find the stones I want in the kind of quality I want. Often times when I do a look up I find polishing rough instead of finished beads or polished stones. Also, I enjoy the baroque look of tumbled stones but the quality of most tumbled stones I see is yucky. Stuff that should have been broken up and redone or stuff that looks like the steps weren't completed. I had a toy tumbler years ago and it was fun but definitely not what I'm looking for now. I'm looking to buy a small tumbler, probably a vibratory, and give it a shot. You know what they say. "If you want it done right you gotta do it yourself." Then if I can't get the quality I want there's no one to blame but me. Lori

Hi Lori, where are you at in North Carolina? I have friends in King and Tobaccoville North Carolina. I love it there in the foothills of the Smokies. Are you anywhere near there?

I'm a little bit closer to Charlotte but we still have great views of the mountains from here. This is a pretty handy place to be. Not too far to civilization (Charlotte) and not too far to really fun places like Hiddenite, Spruce Pine and the Blue Ridge Parkway. It's not all that far to Franklin or Boone either.
