Hi all! I'm a new member from Sweden (Scandinavia, northern Europe). This is my rock story: When I was a kidd I liked to collect rocks, I wanted a tumbler pretty bad, but never got one (I was told they were to expensive) The rock hobby was slowly replaced by other interests, music, girls, the usual stuff Fast forward to 15-20 years later (this is now last week). I was at a toy shop and found a cool little $3 box they called "Secret Stone" basicly, a slab of porous clay with a mystery rock embedded in there. Included was a set of wooden chisel and hammer. Well I bough two (one for my girlfirend) and we booth had a good time wacking the clay to get to the mystery stone. What came out wasn't exactly a diamond but I remembered the "good old days" and wanting to get a tumbler. Now I have a hard time believing it myself but apparently I'm considered an adult now, I even have job with a fancy title - "Mobile Network Engineer". Said and done, I placed a rather large order at The Rock Shed yesterday I've already learnt a ton of stuff from this site and forum, so I'l start of by saying a big THANK YOU to everyone involved.

Hi, Bare. Glad to meet you. We have something similar to the secret stone here. I got my son one that was a pretend fossil dig and he got a little piece of fern fossil out of it. They're pretty neat. Lori

Welcome Barerock, our rock club has a show every year that includes something like the mystery rock. The kids dig in a large sandbox for teasures, they end up with polished rock, gems or fossils.

And rollingstone, yeah expect to see some high res photos of our umm... ehh... exotic.... Granite! Nah I'll hopefully find something other then that and when I do, I'll post about it for sure. Hopefully, you'll find some stuff that we've never seen before, but even all you find is granite and its relatives, you can still get good tumbles from that. Since granite is a mix of minerals, it will probably end up with some surface pitting, but it still takes a nice shine. Just seek out the stuff with nice colours and patterns, and avoid the granite that is rich in mica. Here's some Canadian granite or closely related stone I tumbled a couple years ago. Have fun Swedish rockhounding! -Don

Wow that granite looks great If I can get my tumbles that good I'd be a happy camper I'm hopefully getting my tumbler from The Rock Shed early this week, it's hard finding good rock right now, Sweden is covered in snow... My first tumble will be from the rockmix that came with the grit/rock/tumbler kit.

*Update* My Lortone finally arrived here a couple of days ago, for my first batch I just used the "mixed rock" from TheRockShed.com that came with the tumbler, will post photos in a few days when the first 60/90 step is complete. ;D
