Hello all, and thanx for having me. I started tumbling for my kids (4 & 5 yrs) who have rock collections (gravel) and I thought they might like to shine them up. I found this site about two weeks ago and I've been reading old posts since. We dads need to be the expert on all things, and you guys have really come through for me. Thanks a bunch. We've finished our first batch today, and I'll provide images in the proper location. That is, if this test works: cool I'm certain that this site will be alot of help in the future, and it's good to see that there is plenty of info on cab making if we ever progress that far. Perhaps even... dare i say it... faceting. I started out with so many questions, but by reading through the Lapidary Tips section, most have been answered. I'll still ask for some help on the General Board and I'll probably be repeating previous posts. You'll need to forgive me for that, but 15000+ posts is alot to go though. This is the first forum I've ever joined, so I must be seriously interested. On the other hand, I know next to nothing about forum etiquette.[glow=red,2,300]And what do all these icons do? [/glow] Wow[shadow=blue,left,300]cool[/shadow] ahem... sorry 'bout that... F

G'day Falcon from one dad to another.
I'm also pretty new here mate. And I am still asking tons of questions and learning heaps. It's my first internet forum too and what I've found is that everyone here seems to be down-to-earth and easy going. So, go ahead and ask away. You won't know if you don't ask.
Welcome aboard.
Have a top day and don't forget to tell your kids how much you love them! Mike

hi, Adrian. i'm sure that there is more than a bit of truth in what u say, on the other hand, if the kids completely lose interest - - - i wont be far behind. F.

Hi Falcon. I too began tumbling as a result of my kids. Seemed like every step they took, they'd pick up a rock so I decided to get them a rock tumber. The rest, as they say, is history. You will soon eat, breath, dream, want, buy, etc. etc. rocks.

Yeah...we're all doing it for our kids...ahem...yeah...seriously we are...it's all for them...we're just tagging along...just providing the opportunity At least that's what we tell our wives and our friends...but we know the truth don't we. We're all just 10 years old on the inside and love looking at cool rocks. But unlike 10 year olds...we've got money!
My son has made his own tumbler and grinder out of a cardboard box! (he's nearly 4 years old) He says he's going to find heaps of jaspers for me and an agate as big as this... (and he spreads his arms wide open). Gotta love your kids!
