Hello everyone! I finally joined this forum, after coming by and reading and looking for months, and learning what a great bunch of people this group is. My name is Mary, and I live in central Ohio, with my husband, Stan, and a funny cat named Onyx. My friend, Jamie (DesertDweller), showed me this site about 6 months ago, and I'm happy to join. Right now, I am an ammatuer rock hound and collector. We camp on the pretty Kokosing River and raft and tube, and each trip has to include stopping at "Rock Island" so that I can get a fix. Mostly, I find flint, jasper, and fossils. I desire to learn and become creative, in some way with rocks. I am always inspired by pics here. I'm sure this group will help me discover which path(s) to follow, whether it be slicing, polishing, tumbling, or creating jewelry, and I will benefit from everyone's experience and knowledge and the awesome fellowship I have observed here. Mary

HI Mary, Finally! So glad you joined. Here is a hug and a great big welcome to the RTH, lots of great people here but you will find that out for yourself. I hope you can make it here this fall. She is no ammatuer, should of seen her tossing huge boulders out of the bushes then haul them back to the boat.

Hi Mary. So, you're a friend of Jamie's? You are one sick person then!!!!! Just kidding. Any friend of Jamie's must be a rockhound. Welcome to our little home on the net. There really are great people here and I just got to meet a whole bunch of them in person. The rest are still on my list of "Best friends I never met". As for which path you'll take in dealing with rocks, well, my suggestion is to take them all! And I would like to see a picture on onyx too, you've piqued my interest.

Thanks for the welcome, Jamie, KD, Duckbean, Mike, Stoner, Jonje, and Mike. It feels good to be welcomed into the fold. Where in Ohio are you, Duckbean? I'm in Marion. Jamie, my boulders are still in that cove, I know right where they rolled and can be easily (pant pant) retrieved I doubt if I could still do that jet ski mounting manuever in water up to my neck, and I don't understand why D didnt want a big boulder on the boat, it was sooo cool, we both coulda got it....with a forklift, maybe. That desert sun must've played a part in that craze. Or maybe it was the jerk pork tenderloin, for which you are becoming so famous. From what i read about WWR blitz, you nurished others with that jerk, woman, and inspired some others to go a bit further, get a few more, shed clothes and use as packs, seek to find the coolest rock! Expose the hidden beauty and share that beauty with others. wooohooo! Rockhounds!
