I have been tumbling rocks for several months now and I have about 100 lbs. of rock in my barn waiting their turn to be tumbled. I have a small creek at the edge of my property that has a wide variety of rocks that constantly amaze me when I have finished tumbling and polishing. I am thoroughly ignorant of the types of rocks that I am working with although I am assuming that most of them are quartz of one variety or another. I definitely need to absorb more knowledge and I thought this looked like a good site to get educated. I have a path in the woods that I maintain to walk my dogs twice a day, so I end up picking up specimens every day and I am picking up rocks faster than I can tumble them. I need to stop picking up rocks or get more tumblers. Tumble on!!!

G'day mydroc, welcome to the board, mate! Too many rocks? Yep that'll happen. My advice...look at getting another tumbler because if you see a rock, there is no way you are just going to leave it there! As far as this being a good site to deucate you...you're spot on! There are people here who know things that I didn't even know where out there to be known...if that makes any sense at all! Have a top day. Mike

Hello mydroc, Greeting, from another rockhound, who just joined. Sounds like you live in a lovely place. Creek, path thru the woods, dogs, rocks! I will be learning right along with ya, here, and this is a great bunch. Welcome! Mary

Thanks for the welcome M & M, mushroom season is coming up in the near future here in Missouri so I will be out hunting rocks, mushrooms, and ticks at the same time. The ticks are unwelcome but a hazard to be faced if one wishes to find morel mushrooms. That is one advantage of hunting rocks in the creeks, the ticks are not a hazard. Tumble on.

Hi ya neighbor! Where abouts in Missouri are you? I'm out in West St. Louis County near Babler Park. Welcome to the board, though I'm a newbie too I immediately felt a part of this family. A nicer more helpful group of people you could hope to meet! Last

Hello mydroc and welcome to the board. Yeah, I have collected rock hanging out the seven holes in my head, they're everywhere. Keep up the good work. Ed

Wildwood is on the opposite side of the state from me as I am over by KC in rural Caldwell County. The nearest town is Lathrop. I recognized Wildwood from being mystified by the name several years ago, had to look it up to find out it is a very young town with lots of open space. Rock on.
