Well after finding this page last year, and lurking around on and off since, I think it's about time to say hello, and introduce myself. My name is Michael, originally from Michigan, and recent (10 years ago) transplant to Minnesota. While living in Michigan I would spend time along Lake Superior collecting neat looking rocks (including agates), stuffing them in a plastic bags, and ultimately forgetting about them. After moving here I spent time in Duluth a friend who lives along Lake Superior (lucky bugger) and who also collects agates and greenstones. He introduced my wife Brenda and I to rock tumbling, and just this week I bought a Lortone 33B and more then excited to get started tumbling.
I am looking forward to the weather getting a bit better so that Brenda and I can go hunting for rocks along the Mississippi, at the more than 10,000 lakes, and of course the Big Lake.....Superior.

Welcome Michael to the board. I will be looking foreward to the results of your rock-hounding trips along the Mississippi. Sounds like you will have plenty of great sites to check out! Hang in there on the rock tumbling thing. It takes a while to get the hang of it so don't get discouraged, it's worth the effort. Take care, Ed

No worrys about quiting too early. My buddy in Duluth showed me the ropes, and assured me that my first batch or two may not come out great, but he has been (and will continue to be) a vast fountain of knowledge. Add to that the fact of all you folks out here, before you know it, I will be an (semi)expert in no time. And heck, the rocks I pick up are free.... Shoot....now I am really getting antsie.

Hi Micheal and Brenda, Welcome from northern Minnesota! Lucky you to live in the Twin Cities area, fairly good for hunting lakers down there. Like you, I am getting antsie to go rock hunting also, just have to wait until the frost thaws up here and the ground becomes solid. It's like permafrost this year though, I may be waiting a long time. ;D

Glad you found this site. Being from Minnesota I bet you have collected some of the best rocks. Lake Superior Agates. Those are stunning. Looking forward to your pictures of them.

Greetings from Missouri, I think I have some rocks from Minnesota on my property left over from the last glacier. You can come and get them when you want to. Tumble on.
