I am a new member and new to rock tumbling. My family and I live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest and spend a great deal of time on our boat in Puget Sound and in the San Juan Islands. My kids & I (ages 6 & 2) are always collecting rocks, shells and sea glass on the beach. I turn many of the shells and sea glass into jewelry and thought it might be fun to have something to do with the rocks as well that makes them look pretty.
Any tips on a beginner rock tumbler and which rocks work to look for on the beaches of Puget Sound that will produce the best results? Thanks

Welcome JBG,
Pacific Northwest. Will you adapt me, or at least my daughter? We love it out there. So you spend a lot of time along the San Juan Islands eh? How's Ruffles? I'm sure you know him, and have come across him a time or two. When my daughter turned fifteen, out present to her was a trip to the Seattle area. We stayed in Anacortes, and had some great times whale watching. One of my favorite places there was Mt. Erie. It's so beautiful out there. Lucky you. Anyway, before I start to ramble about your neck of the woods, and how I wish I lived there, I'll just welcome you again.

Welcome! The people on this board are great, kind and knowledgable. Whatever you do don't look at the wire wrapping section. Its just another addiction waiting to happen. ha

Welcome to the forum! I'm just two skips across the water from you on south Vancouver Island! We probably find alot of the same rocks on the beach.
