Hi all, I'm joining you from the beautiful East Mountain area of New Mexico. Jamie, aka desertdweller, told me all about this board, and about how much I'd enjoy participating! I've loved stones ever since I was born (at least that's what I've been told). I am a self-taught wire-wrapper, and have been wrapping for about 4 years. On a recent trip to The Desert, my husband and I learned how to cut and polish cabochons. We are both addicted! We moved to South Sandia Peak late last year from the Denver, CO, area. The Big City was getting too big for us. I love living in the trees and the clean air. So, besides wire-wrapping, you can find me painting wildlife in watercolors, cooking, making bad puns, being a perfect Cat Slave to Cody and Zorro (they trained me well), still unpacking (I always find something more interesting to do!), and soon-to-be making cabochons with my hubby. There's never a dull moment here! Dee

Welcome, Dee! Wow, wire wrapping, painting, pets, sense of humor - you fit right in! Even thought I've been here only a short time, I've already learned the mantra: show us pictures, show us pictures, show us pictures!
This is a great and supportive place, as desertdweller told you. Enjoy!

Welcome Dee,
You were very wise to listen to Jamie. This is a great Forum for everything rocks. Now please listen to Amy as well and post pictures...of those trees, your watercolor art, the cabs as you make them, Cody and Zorro.
And please be sure to check the Competitons Board if you haven't already gotten down to that one. There's a neat contest being sponsored by Karen. It's all about rocks and food!!!

Hey Dee, glad you decided to join. Her and her husband Scott just came to Arizona for a conference and Rodney and I took them out on an adventure on the ATV's. It was a little warm so we didn't start the adventure until about sundown. We gave them a quick lesson on how to survive rock hunting in the desert during the summer, do it at night!!! After we got back Scott spent a little time cutting stones on the titan, the next day both he and Dee were hard to tear away from the cabbing machine. Scott was telling us that he was going to buy a small tractor to use around their new place, when they we leaving here they couldn't decide if they were going to buy an ATV or a cabbing machine......So much for the tractor.
Welcome to the board Dee, you'll have a lot of fun here.

Thanks for the welcome. Jamie and Rodney were perfect hosts. I've never been in the Sonoran desert at night. It was really fascinating -- besides stones, we found scorpions, bats, javelinas, a tarantula, a baby lizard, and several kangaroo rats. They grow scorpions the size of hamsters out there! On the second day, we abandoned Jamie to cook dinner for us while we were playing with rocks -- we were such "wonderful" guests! Besides being a sweet, very talented person, Jamie is a great cook (and we're very good at eating). And Amy, Lady B, and Daniel, I'll work on getting some photos uploaded -- I like pictures, too! By the way, the cabbing machine is in the lead.... What tractor?

Welcome to the board. Don't forget to show us some of those cabs once you've got them happening.

I finally figured out how to modify the quote thing! So glad to have you, Karen
