Hi all! I'm brand new & thrilled to be here! What a great rockhound resource! This is truly a rockhound's paradise. I look forward to learning from everyone, seeing the pictures, & hopefully sharing what little I know with you. I am an avid rockhound located in Arizona & go collecting as often as is humanly possible. I do lapidary, tumbling, & simple beaded/wirewrap jewelry making. I'm not a professional dealer or anything like that, I just love collecting the rocks & making a few cabs or polishing specimens for my collection. Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself & say hi. azrockhound

Hey beefjello, where'd you get that name? Does that have something to do with meat, or dessert? I'm located in Cottonwood, in the Verde Valley. I hunt all over AZ, CA, & NM & am a freak for quality banded/fortification agates. How about you? I'm working on a website that will hopefully be done soon to have my agate collection online, but for now here's a link to a few of my agates: www.sedonagemandmineral.org/patti.htmlI look forward to hearing from you. azrockhound

Hi Karen! I will check out the competition thing for sure. Thanks. I'm still trying to figure out how to navigate around here. Is there a way I can reply directly to you, or just to this thread? Also, how do you add all the cool stuff to your profile like pics, a quote, etc.? Rock on girlfriend! Patti

Thanks Nathaniel! There sure are a lot of nice people here. You are lucky to live in Australia - what an incredible place for agates & opals! I have a few very nice Agate Creek agates that were given to me by a friend of mine from Austria who got them there. Do you know the guy in Austrailia with the agate tooth who calls himself the Agate King", or something like that? Too funny! Although an agate tooth is not a bad idea... Patti ;D

Hey Patti,
This is another new friend of mine, she purchased an auction from me and came to pick it up in person. We spent the day rockhounding, first at Koning's rock pile and then in the mountains across the Hassayampa River. She knows a lot about agates, especially the Az agates and she has rock hounded with Pat McMann, sp? He is the guy that has the collection online, agateswithinclusions.com. She can identify most agates from Arizona and she knows the locations because she has hunted most of them. Sheri, I think I have her talked into coming to the Burro Creek trip, at least for a day or two. She's a nice gal and I bet she will be spending some time on the RTH. Had a great time yesterday Patti, I look forward to the next outing, hope you like it here on the RTH.

Hi Patti and welcome, I am a fellow rocklover, who lives in Marion, Ohio. Jamie is a friend of mine and is the person who introduced me to this great group of people, also. I wish I could make it for the Burro Creek bash, I'm sure it's going to be a great time. I will be at Myrtle Beach then, but I will get back out to AZ to visit Jamie, soon, and maybe we can meet and do some hounding, then. Mary

G'day and welcome to the board. Sounds like we may learn more from you than you learn from us. Look forward to seeing more from you.

Hey, thanks for all the kind words guys (& gals!). This really is a terrific place & I do look forward to learning many things here. It's true that I know something about AZ agate & some other agates in general, but I am still a novice with wire wrapping & tumbling, & I hope to polish up my skills with the help of many of the people here. Gotta love the internet!

hi BK! Thanks for the compliment. Are you an agate collector too? I have not been out your way, but have seen some of the beautiful agate that comes from Texas. Have you posted any pics of your agate on the board here? Patti

Hi BAZ, Thanks for the welcome. We have a link to bigarizona on our Sedona club website. Are you going to be able to make the rock show today or tomorrow? Patti

Yep, Sedona's club is on my site too. My wife is coming back from Florida tonight after burying her dad. Depends on how she feels tomorrow but I'd like to make it to the show. Normally I'd go by myself if she didn't want to go but we haven't seen each other in 2 weeks so I want to spend time with her.
That show is great! We won a nice copper specimen at the raffle a few years ago. We topped the day off at Oak Creek Brewing for a tasty sandwich and an even tastier brew.
