Hello all! I've been lurking for a couple of weeks, and finally decided to take the plunge and join. So, what brought me here? Well, I recently got married, and my husband and I decided to go to Spruce Pine North Carolina to go gem-grubbin' for our honeymoon. We're new to rock-hounding, but had a TON of fun. Now I've got a giant pile of rocks and gem rough...what do I do now? I remembered that I always wanted a rock tumbler when I was a kid. Growing up in rural NH, playing with rocks was one of my favorite things. So, I did a little research here, there and everywhere, and I just ordered my first tumbler yesterday. I'm VERY excited to get started...wish I lived somewhere where there was something to collect other than granite. I'm interested in learning to cab, as well. My husband and I are both engineers, so we figure we can build a cab machine, with a little help from you folks. Anyway, glad to be here, and I'm looking forward to chatting with you all.

Hi Titania and welcome to RTH. There is a ton of good information here and great people so don't be afraid to tap into these people's heads. I'm an engineer also but structural engineering knowledge isn't much help with rocks. Enjoy.

Hi Titania and welcome to RTH. There is a ton of good information here and great people so don't be afraid to tap into these people's heads. I'm an engineer also but structural engineering knowledge isn't much help with rocks. Enjoy. ;D Biomedical engineering is even LESS help with rocks...unless we're talking about kidney stones. Hmmm....I wonder if you could tumble those... Thanks, all for the warm welcome! It's nice to find a place full of so many nice people. I'm VERY anxious to get my tumbler and get things going.
