Hey Kim, here is a picture of how I use the Jorgensen Clamp. I don't use the rip guide at all for cutting slabs. I can see where it will be useful for trimming slabs though. Ron

I find that this works very well. If you really need to be sure that the clamp is held down securely, it would be simple to add a "C" clamp to hold down the Jorgensen Clamp.

Michigan rocks,
When you say tile saw, do you mean a saw that is used for cutting tiles? I have looked at those and have wondered how they would be to cut rocks. The one I was looking at have a 4 1/2" blade, which didn't seem very big.
Please let me know if this is what you are using and how it works.
Thanks Bunny

Hi Bunny, I'm not Ron, but I can name that song! Er, I mean, answer that question. Yes, he is talking about a tile saw used for cutting tiles. A number of us use tile saws. Rock saw are pretty expensive and a tile saw is the next best thing. Ron has a big MK100 tile saw and Kim also has a MK tile saw - not sure what kind. BE and I have a 10" made in China MK100 knockoff and a 7" tile saw and I recently bought a little saw like you are talking about. The 4-1/2" blade really won't do much for cutting rocks. Can't use it to cut a large rock. I use mine for trimming slabs and cutting small rocks. A 7" saw will cut larger rocks and a good one can be had for less than $100. We got our big saw from Homier Mobile Merchants for $167.00 and have really been pleased with it. We have sure used it $167 worth! It will cut fist size rocks. llana

Thanks Llana, I couldn't have said it better myself. Hey BCBunny, rule of thumb is you can cut using approximately 1/3 of the diameter of the saw blade. Based on that, a 4 1/2 inch saw should cut up to 1.5 inch rocks. Depending on how much power the saw has, you might has to feed the rock quite slowly though. Ron
