When breaking up rocks for the tumbler, practice safety first. Breaking up rocks can cause small pieces of rock to fly at high speeds, enough to cause some serious damage.
1. Eye protection or face shield. Even though we come equipped with two eyes, neither is a spare or a extra. And, wearing a patch over your eye like a pirate in not in vogue.
2. Gloves. Your hands are the closest part of your body to the rocks, chisel and hammer.
3. Long sleeve pants and shirt.
Be safe.

I found when breaking up my smaller rocks it was nice putting the anvil in a box and break the rocks down in it, that way the box caught the smaller pieces and other larger pieces didn't go flying to the point that I couldn't find them. Tami
