When the slurry starts to thicken I notice that when you add water, the rocks will take a little while to get moving again, and if you add too much water they won't move at all. I had an idea to grab a spray bottle full of water and give them a couple of squirts, worked like a champ! It evenly distributes the water over the rocks so they move faster and you won't chance adding too much water.

Great tip Randy! I have also found that in the final stages if you manage to get too much water and things slow down to add a little bit more pellets or a bit of Borax to get things going again. I'm getting to the point where I can just poke my head into the stairs going to my basement and hear what is going on much better than when I first started! Bill

Forgot to add that when I get the rough stage a bit on the thin side I have some silica sand that I add to thicken things up a bit, works very well too.

I've learned to listen as well, the tumbler sounds much louder when it's working correctly! lol I've also just figured out about adding the plastic pellets, looks like there's all kinds of stuff that will get these things working again.
