Somebody recently asked about removing rust stains from rock. Here are some instructions, it sounds straightforward. Mineral Cleaning By John Betts

I have also used a product from Wink called "Rust Stain Remover" (in a brown bottle) that you can purchase in the laundry aisle. It is pretty nasty stuff according to the bottle though, I always use plenty of water afterwards.

I understand that "Iron out" does the job more safely than muriatic acid.

Iron out will work on some minor stains. Mostly I use oxalic acid on my tougher jobs. I have had great luck with oxalic and will continue to use it. It is safe to use if one uses common sense. I never use it inside the house or shop...always outside. I also monitor the progress of what I am cleaning. I pays to be safe.
