I would like to know what type of rock, would be good material for lamp making, similar to what Snowdog made. I've made an agate one, had a lot of fun-other than the grinding of the sides. Would quartz work, something like rose quartz?? I figured the various agates, (moss, brazilian, lake superior). Just looking for another rock medium to play with. This time do my own slice/polishing. Any ideas welcomed, Mike lamp I made last X-mas, I used dyed bought agate slabs

Another thing with rose quartz, I'm told it will fade over time. Nice lamp, got a pic in the sunlight w/o the light on?

The slices are 1/8 - 3/16" thick, I used copper foil, with adhesive back. I assembled them on a lamp form. with lots of solder (60/40) type. With a brass vent cap at the top.

Thank you so much. When I saw your lamp and the ones that snowdog made.... well I just have to try it. There was a pic from someone on here that had a very thin piece of agate and I thought.... what a great idea to have a bunch of them to just hang in my windows around the house.... then I saw these lamps and I was floored. They are beautiful!
