I bought a well used 10" Lortone flat lap and the pan is pretty crusty....
I've read that the lap pans should be conditioned so that there are fine grooves in the pan to carry grit. I'm thinking that I could use 600 grit sand paper and a small power sander to remove the crusty old crud and resurface the pan.
Does this sound like a good idea? and if not does anyone have any suggestions for reconditioning the pan...?
Thanks! Dan

You'd have to be pretty careful to make sure you didn't create a wavy surface. How much are replacement pans from Lortone?

Thanks John... My wife suggested the same thing last evening... I'll try the pressure sprayer at the car wash. I may have to buy an oversized polishing pad and cut it down to size because I can't find anything for 10" laps!

Hi Dan ,
Ever tried Patio cleaner or brick acid this would remove cement from tools Im told ( this last week) and Lapidary crud is pretty simular.!!
Then Power wash once the crud is loosened.
I havent any further Information (on the brick acid) but I could find them out for you, if you cant find them out .?
Send me a PM or post here .

Thanks Guys,
I'm going to try some calcium, rust, and lyme remover and then take it to the car wash to use the pressure sprayer. Hope that will do it.
Thanks for the link Connrock~ I may have to buy a new one yet!
