I have 1 CE tumbler and 1 Lortone tumbler. The belt on my CE broke this morning, (feeling very lucky that the first one lasted 3 weeks from everything I have seen here lol), but anyways, I thought I had some spares up on the shelf but of course I didnt. I was kind of worried as I have 2 barrels right in the middle of stage 2, so I started hunting around the house to see if there was anything i could use to hold me over til I can get some new ones in. I know I had heard about the rubber bands, but searched around and found none. Then I found something tried it out and lo and behold my machine is running smoothly again.. What was the item? A Pony Tail Holder/Hair Braid[/i]. Lol, thought this was too funny, hope my wife doesnt mind. Have some belts on order already.

I keep a package of pony tail holders around all the time to use as heavy duty rubber bands. The fabric protects the rubber from getting nicked and the rubber inside seems to last longer in a long term hold - it doesn't crack and break as soon. I use them for holding two- and three-piece fishing rods together in storage and transit. Never used one as a drive belt, but it sounds like a choice idea.
