Howdy.....I was wondering what type of oil some of you use? I have a lortone 10" and use straight oil. In the last year I have used log and shingle oil, canola oil and regular machinest cutting oil. So far the log and shingle oil is the best. Iliked the cutting oil but it stinks and tends to gel up after a while. What is your favorite oil? Bob

I been using Texaco White Oil 22 in my 12"saw but I can't find it anywhere now. I'm going to try Texaco Almag next cuz I found a local source. The White Oil 22 is nice... almost no odor and it leaves very little residue on your hands after wiping with a paper towell. The guy I talked to at the Texaco retailer says he hasn't sold any White Oil 22 in 20 years!

Thanks guys....I live out here in the sticks kinda far from retail outlets. Drupe I tried to find mineral oil at Wally World yesterday in Helena. Checked everywhere but the pharmacy. Which department is it in? How is it price wise? I am going to the amoco dealer later today and see what they have. A couple of days ago I was cutting jasper and hit a hematite layer in the rock it turned the cutting oil blood red and it cactually congealed!!! Thanks again Bob

Mirkaba, it's in the pharmacy section. It's used as a laxitive. BTW, if you want to play around with viscosity and prefer something a little thinner (I do), then you can mix Wallyworld mineral oil with Wallyword baby oil. Baby oil is basically mineral oil with scent and nothing else. The baby oil turns out to be less expensive also. I mix the two. Adding baby oil also gives the saw a pleasant smell. Steve

Thanks Steve! I am heading into town Thurs. to the local mineral club meeting . I will check it out. I do want to run a thinner mixture thinking perhaps it will not load up so much.......Bob
