My autofeed quit working on my Raytech. javascript:add(%22%20:P%22)It happened once before and I tapped the motor shaft and got it running but this time no luck. So I thought I would turn to the experts here. Does anyone have any great suggestions on how to fix it other than replacing the autofeed motor? Thanks.

Is the motor still working- maybe just a loose wire or something- I would pop off the cover and check the wiring (UNPLUG FIRST!!!) also look for anything binding the shaft (sludge, maybe a rock chip??)

Ya, open it up(unplug) and take a good look. Maybe even have a buddy or family member over who knows more about motors. Just to get their driect input as your looking at it and testing it. Unfoutantly, these(not just raytechs), but small motors that drive the clamp do go bad and need to be replaced. I dont have a raytech, so not sure what other type of motor will fit. But on my 18inch saw, ive gone through two small feed motors since ive own it for over 3 years. The first one was the original, and the second one was a converted tumbler motor that just would hold up. So far the motor that working on it is a rotissier motor off the grill. ONly problem with that, is sometimes it likes to reverse driections, becasue of the type of motor it is. But that isnt often.

I have a 10" Raytech also. I had to replace the motor. I think it was $80 from raytech, but I think you could buy a motor like that elsewhere for less money. If the screw is turning that powers the clamp, the brass piece that you clamp onto the screw might be stripped.

Thanks for the inputs. To answer a couple of your questions-- the wiring is OK. The motor is/was trying to go but wouldn't. started heating up. The screw feed doesn't turn. Which gets me to another question (probably dumb)--how do you disconnect the screw feed? I need to do that in order to remove the motor. Do I punch out the little pins or is there another way?
