When bead setting small stones, use a pin and one part of two part epoxy. Dip the tip of the pin into a drop of the unmixed epoxy, keeping it small, then touch the tip of the pin to the table of the smaller stone. Beeswax, and synthetic beeswax is just too large, the stone gets absorbed into the beeswax and trying to slide the stone into the setting is a mess. The beeswax obscures the stone in the setting. The unmixed epoxy is easy to steam off the table of the stone after setting. The steamer will also indicate whether the stone is securely set or not.
