Hi all
I may be wasting my time but have an idea in my head on trying making a Vibro Lap, and also a Tumbler maybe not or maybe yes, a vibro type tumbler.
Maybe a stupid question but is there any difference in the grits used for lapping and the grits used for tumbling, or are they exactly the same.
best regards Andy

Hi Andy and welcome to the board!
I thought that the grits were the same ... but I'm no expert!.....
Your plans sound interesting!!!

The only real difference is lappers generally use graded grits and claim it makes a difference (220, 400, 600) Tumblers generally use the cheaper mixed grade grits (120-220. 400F,500F,etc.) A lot of vibe tumblers skip the 60/90 and start with 120/220. I use 60/90 when I think I need to but not for very long. If you have graded grits they will work fine.

Hi Andy, I dont think in UK you can get the cheaper grit John mentions (above) Ihave tried at where I got my 50 Kg bag and got the curt reply "we sell to Rolls Royce and it has to be perfect" I did mention sweeping ups from the floor but cant print his reply !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
