![](http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k53/mikidog/thebeast.jpg) The machine is belt driven with three pulleys to vary speed. I use the middle one which is plenty fast. 5 8" wheels, 2 pumps with three heads. I hacked a hole in the front so I could slide in a Genie tray. On the far left is the leather polishing pad. On the far right, there is a set up for a trim saw, including a motor mount in the cabinet. I have never seen the saw that goes with this. If I remove the partition, I have room for another wheel. I wipe out the excess water from the wheel area when I am done cabbing for the day.

It seems you have a very good, surdy and complete cabbing machine, Stardiamond!

I paid $250 for the machine with two worn galaxy wheels. I thought it was a bad deal and was unhappy with the cabs I was making, so I bought a Genie. Eventually, I figured out how to modify the star diamond and do almost all the cutting and sanding with it. I only use the genie for 3000,14000 and diamond paste. I figure my cost on the star diamond for the machine, three Nova wheels, two jade carver and the pumps is under $1000. I plan to move cross country when I retire and the star diamond is too rusted and heavy to bother moving. When I arrive at my destination I will look for another star diamond or maybe have a machine shop build me something.

The pan and all other parts are available from Barranca Diamond (they bought Star Diamond in 1998). They made a few minor improvements but make essentially the same equipment.
