The thin blades on these small saws tend to bounce and wander when starting the cut.Use a finger or something on the side of the blade for a few seconds.This also gives more precise positioning and saves the blade.Mike.

I've noticed that a lot recently. I was worried about what was going on but also found that if I made sure the rock I was cutting was firmly against the base, it seemed to calm down the "jitters."
