I know, most of you are sick to death of snow by now, but the first snow is a much anticipated, wonderous thing in North GA, and it finally happened this evening. There were flurries through out the day, but the temps dropped dramaticly (it's about 15 degrees right now) and it finally began to stick. My step daughter is here and we had to take some pics. Some more unusual than others. Happy snow girl Marlena again. (notice my car in the back ground) and a happy "Patrick", joining in the fun (can you see my car and Marlenas jacket?) I know, sceptics, you dought what I say. That's OK, I just think it's cool. Took several pics with orbs (other than the ones in these pic's) but you will only mock me and call it reflection from the snow. I am so blessed! Happy Holidays to all. It's begining to look alot like Christmas.... cookie

Glad you're enjoying the icky white poo Cookie ;D It is kind of pretty when it first starts falling, especially if it's big and fluffy. After the day we had though, cold is not something on my "most wanted" list. We had -24° last night with windchills ranging from -31° to -57° most of the night. Our power went out today when it was still -7° and was out for 6 hours before they got it fixed. Hopefully it's fixed anyway, supposed to get back down to -7° again tonight. We're fortunate to have a very well insulated house, the temps only dropped 9 degrees during the 6 hours the power was out. Dang that furnace does sound good though.
Most upsetting was when the power came back on, I ran downstairs to check my tumblers and my Lortone wasn't rolling. I picked up one barrel and the other one started to roll. Seems to be ok now .... I hope.
Enjoy your fun, hope Marlena gets enough to make snow angels.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! As long as it's someplace else! It is pretty though. Seeing those pics kinda makes me miss those White Christmases I had in Colorado. But, sure don't miss the cold. The weatherman has said there is a slight chance we might get snow for Christmas - very slight! Of course, it would be neat, esp. for the little kids who have never seen snow! Whether we get snow or not, we are going to get COLD! Suppose to be in the 70's Monday and Tuesday, then down in the high 40's Wed and Thursday. Of course, I realize the 40's and 50's are like the tropics to you folks up north of here! But 40 to me IS COLD! Already got my longjohns out and ready! llana

Llana, this is the coldest I've ever known. Supposed to be 18 degrees when I go to work tommorrow, my car door will be frozen shut. We may have a white Christmas, if only it this area. That's what the weather channel.com is saying. That would be great, like you say, for the little ones and...ME! I've never had a white Christmas! I'm such a kid when it comes to snow. Don't like the cold so much, but it's getting easier the longer I live here. LET IT SNOW!

Wow, Cher, and I thought it was bad over here with -16 degrees. Do you live on what the weather forecasters call "the range" Brrr. It's always colder there. It's always terrible when the power goes out when it's that cold. Unforunately, that happens a bit too often over here.
We have two woodstoves, (one for the house we're in and a outdoor one for the shop and log house we'll be in some day). Seems like on those days all I get done is keep the stoves going and make sure the outdoors animals are okay.
I might feel a bit better about winter if I keep tuning into this board all the time, between your colder weather on the range and I believe it's Shorty who lives in the snow belt, I better not complain.

Yes Joanna, I do live on "the range" and about 100 miles south of International Falls, Minnesota ... the nations Ice Box. El Nino was supposed to be giving us a nicer winter too but seems to have either forgotten us or weakened considerably. We set to drop back in to the -20's on Thursday and Friday but it is supposed to warm up some on Saturday and Sunday.
