On Wednesday I was getting ready to get in my car to go to work when I noticed my wife's van was looking a bit funny or awkward. Looking down at the tires, I noticed that one of the tires was flat as a pancake.
Cursing my bad luck, I started thinking should I pretend that I didn't see the flat tire and let my wife deal with it, which would mean my son would be late to school. And, later I would hear about the ordeal she had to go through to get it fixed.
Or, should I be a nice guy and change the tire for her?
I wanted to get into work early because of a class I had to take and wanted to get a little work done before the class. Normally, my boss doesn't care which 12 hours of a day I work.
I decided that fixing the tire would win me a few points with my better half, I changed the tire. Of course, I found that the spare tire did not have enough air after putting it on the van. And, had to run into town to fill up the spare tire.
Yep, it did win me a few points! My wife also mentioned that my little girl was so disappointed that I left for work before she woke. Being a little drama queen, she put both of her hands in front of her face and moaned "Oh man". Normally, I try to help get the kids going in the morning, which includes making ovaltine milk for my little girl.
The other morning routine is kissing the wife and daughter, but my 7 yr old son is too old for a kiss, so we just shake hands. Although I did notice the other day, that my daughter wipes her face after I give her my good bye kiss.
Have a great day. Cal

Oh no, did he decided that? So far I have my 10 yo grandson convinced you're never to old for a kiss. My 12 yo granddaughter has reached the point now of offering her cheek up for a kiss but I guess it's better than nothing. It was a good thing you did, fixing the tire. I, for one, would have been extremely ticked and would have called a tow truck just for spite. LOL I don't do mechanic work anymore.

lol, good man, Cal. karma points, if nothing else.
luckily, i learned at an early age to change tires among other things and when we (me and hubby) were deep into motor sports (autocross mainly) i could get all 4 tires changed and torqued in less than 30 minutes, if we tag teamed we could do it in 10. floor jacks and your own air compressor really help too.
a very handy tool to have is one of those portable air compressors that plugs up your 12v car outlet (aka ciggerette lighter plugs).
