I've been using nothing but Internet Explorer 6 for so long now. I just recently decided to give the Mozilla Firefox a try. Anybody else have any experience with Firefox? So far, I have to admit, I think I like it.

It is spyware central, and gives out info. If you run adaware, Mozilla cannot run.

Doc, can you clarify this ... do you have a link to any info?
I run Ad-Aware and Spybot S&D and also run Mozilla Firefox, Netscape 7, and Internet Explorer. I've never had a problem running Firefox due to any problems with the spyware programs.

Hey Cher, I run Ad-aware and Firefox as well and haven't had a problem. The only problem I've been able to find with Firefox was an issue with spyware in the German issue. But apparently it was only in the German language version. Everything else seems to say that Firefox is a safer more secure browser. Unless somebody has found something that I haven't, I'm continuing to give it a try.

I run Firefox, Ad-Ware, SpyBot, Evidence Eliminator and Norton Security Systems Firewall and Anti-Virus and have never had any kind of problem at all. I love Firefox. I really like the tab system. I do still always download the Microsoft patches for XP even though I won't use the IE browser.
The commputer and programming experts that post on another forum I'm on say that Mozilla's Firefox and Thunderbird mail are one of the safest browers/mail systems on the market today.
No pop-ups, no spam, no viruses, no problems. I do hate the parental controls on m Norton though. Have them turned off, but still have to download the stupid updates. It takes forever and slows my computer down so much I could walk to town and back before a webpage loads!

So far, I think that Firefox seems to be considerably faster than my I.E. I have now installed the Thunderbird mail utility as well. I'm a big fan of open source programming. I do not use Microslop Office either. I have been using OpenOffice.org for a few years now and I much prefer it. You can download it free at: www.openoffice.org/

Yo, Michigan-
Loaded up Firefox and so far, so very good. It took me literally 30 seconds to load it up and get it running.
Wife will probably freak, but she'll soon be on board. It's not too terribly different and the "tab" features are handy.

I finally installed Thunderbird and have made it and Firefox my default browser and mail program. I have to admit, I was a die-hard Netscape fan until they came out with 6.0 ... then things started going downhill fast. Sands if you have any questions, just holler. You'll love Firefox once you get use to it. I also like the "junk" feature in Thunderbird.

Foxfire and Thunderbird are the way to go! Your wife will love it onces she gives it a try!
I especially love the tab feature because it is not unusual for me to have a number of windows open at the same time - esp when I am on this forum, doing research or on one of the other forums I participate in. I can open a new window for each subject, then open a new tab in that window for sites on the same subject. With IE, if I opened that many windows, may computer would freeze up. Not a problem with Foxfire and it's tab system.
I think it funny as h*ll that microsoft IE - the biggest spy in internet history - thinks Foxfire is spyware! Talk about the pot calling the kettle black! LOL! I'll never use IE again!
