It has finally ended! The two stooges finished a short run of fence on our property.
It was truly Lary and Curley putting up a simple chain link fence. It was 135ft long, the ground was sand, and there was no vegetation to deal with. The first corner was already laid.
It took two days! The first day, they set 15 poles. They got here at 9:00am and were done resetting and resetting and concreting and concreting at 6:00pm!
That being said, they decided to dig up eight of the poles and set more concrete! The sun went down and they took their car and shined the headlights up and down the property! The headlights went into the neighbors houses on three sides at different times. They started banging the poles into the ground using hammers right next to one neighbors house and they get up early in the morning.
I sent them home.
Next day, they showed up at 10:00. Now the fun started! They put up the chain link without checking to see if it was intact. Hoh boy. I tried to tell them, when I put up fencing, I always checked to make sure a link was not off center. They put up the entire fence, pulling up the poles they had concreted into the ground to make the height. Instead of cutting off the tops, they either beat the poles into the ground, or pulled the poles up.
Oiy!!!!!
It took half a day to get the materials. They would go and come back with five bags of concrete. Leave and get more. That took a long time. One of the stooges rented a truck to pick up five poles. He did not know he could put them in his vehicle by putting them out the window.
The finally finished. They trampled my wife's exotic plantings tore off branches from the neighbors tree. Curley mooned everybody all day long, yesterday and today. It was a six hour job and they could have made money if they worked smart. OIy!!!!
Ok, they got the link fence hooked up on wobbly poles, attached Larry's car to the end and had to use their shoe laces for tie downs to tension the fence! Guess what?
Of course the shoelaces broke when they were trying to pull the fence. The car shot across the street knocking down another fence. Cops, flashing lights, loud radios. Dumb looks on their faces, we just wanted to hide.
That being done, and they told me why it was the neighbors fault, over and over, they got the fence tensioned. One of the stooges went to Home Depot and got ten feet of twine, their tie down twine. Back to tearing up the lawn, tearing out the other end pole, and the other neighbors fence.
They got the fence done. They were so proud. They told us all about it. We hadn't slept as the phone was ringing all night and restarted at 4:30 in the morning with the neighbors freaking out.
They linked the fence, and were putting the finishing touches to it when Curley noticed the first piece of fence had holes in it from the link missing the the others.
Instead of untying the fence from the end they could pull, they secured the fence they could pull, and undid the fence from the end they destroyed the neighbors fence end. It took half a day to fix the holes instead of taking an hour. They had too much tension on the fence.
The two stooges had 25yrs of fencing between the two of them, and they do it for a career. They are liscenced professionals!!!!!!!
Except for the neighbor they ran over the fence, and the neighbor they tore out the fence, they rest of us were laughing so hard we couldn't speak. Oh my God!!!!
They cost us 500$ for the entire job. Materials cost them in the end 450$ Larry dropped three rolls onto us 41 and they got rolled over by a truck, the poles in his vehicle, he went around a corner and took it too close and he bent the poles and tore out his door and part of his roof. His back seat, and part of the truck was pierced by the bundle.
When they left they asked us for a dollar each so they could buy a soda on the way home.
I thank the Lord, Shemp stayed home, and Moe had a fever.
My wife is speechless, I am trying to understand how experienced, reccomended, professionals, with a store front, homes, families, function like that.
They were the best. I reccomend, for those who want to relocate to Floriduh, Be Afraid, Be Very Afraid!
Let us see, 20hrs for a six hour job, 450$ in materials, 500$ total bid. That leaves 50$ for 20 hrs each. I cannot even count that low per hour.
These guys were the best of the best of the best. I wonder what the underdog is like. I just stayed out of it and lent them tools, and had the longest two days I have ever had.
When they were done, Curley stood back and was so proud and said, Have you ever seen a fence like that?
My ears are ringing.
