WHAT TO DO IF YOU GET A TRAFFIC TICKET
Remember, this advice was sent to me by my dad the retired State Farm agent!
This system has been tried and it works in every state. If you get a speeding ticket or went through a red light or whatever the case may be, and you're going to get points on your license. This is a method to ensure that you DO NOT get the points.
When you get your fine, send in a check to pay for it. If the fine is $79.00 make the check out for $82.00 or some small amount over the fine.
The system will then have to send you back a check for the difference, however here is the trick.
DO NOT CASH THE REFUND CHECK! Throw it away!
Points are not assessed to your license until all financial transactions
are complete. If you do not cash the check, then the transactions are NOT complete. The system has received it's money and is satisfied and will no longer bother you.
This information comes from an unmentionable computer company that sets up the standard databases used by every state.
Send this to everyone you know. You never know when they may need a break

That urban legend page is a good one. There are all these internet chain letters , "for sick children" or "this little cancer victim" for example. and we all perpetuate the myths. Or letters about getting money from some company by passing on the email...
The last election campaign had loads of them sent around, misquoting one of the candidates, claiming he was close with Jane Fonda, etc etc.
This is a good place to help smoke out a rat! csroc

Yeah, I consult that site all the time. It is amazing how many stories (especially e-mail stuff) are just plain fiction. Have you ever read those "Darwin Awards"? Most of those are urban legends.

Love the Urban legend pages. I've cut down on the bulk of my e-mail from my inlaw's by sending them that link. Felt like a grump having to do that, but I was getting so tired of getting swamped with those forewarded scare type stories and other arm chair activism type articles (I was getting to the point where I dreaded/hated checking my e-mail last year).
I was close to sending them the link to Break the Chain site as a last resort (another good place).
