they are fruit. they grow on trees. you need tools harvest them and to access the insides.

you can pick coconuts (are they fruit?) off the tree, they also fall on their own. the fruit i have in mind requires sharp tools to detach them from the trees. but cocnuts are probably neighbors of my mystery fruit.
