Awww Sands, that's awesome for you. Take your time and make absolutely sure you stop at good, well-lit campgrounds. Campers are generally a lot like rock people, kind and generous but especially at this time with all the strife going on from the hurricane, you just need to be careful. You make sure you keep in touch ok, we'll need to know our Sandsman is doing good and taking care of himself!!

Hi Sands, Man forget the rest and just be excited! You are doing what a lot of people would love to be doing! That includes me and the wife. Always said we would pack up and just go when we retired, but things didn't work out that way. Now we're home bodies and it's not all badwhen you got you and the others doing the traveling for you. So keep us filled in on the trip and post pics so we can see the rest of the country. Oh ya and have a blast. If you're ever in OH. stop inlike to meet face to face.

when do you reckon you will get the "right" trailor?? you should plan on making tracks before the snow flies in the mountains of PA.
i'm scared for you and i'm jealous of you and i'm going to miss those days when you are not here with us....
but i do think this will be good for you and an adventure and that you will have some interesting stories to tell.
you got friends in here, Sands, i hope you know you can count on us if you find yourself in a jam.

sounds like you have it figured out prety good. so far i have heard Friends, rocks, fishing camping 'grinding ,polishing, picture taking(?) having done something similar in the past for a short while the best suggestion I caught offer is to get a jornal and every nite after dinner force yourself to write one paregraph in it. it will be tough at first but you will be extremly happy latter D.B.

That's a great idea D.B. I did a journal when my hubby and went west to get married, it's really neat to read now.

Hi John, sounds like a great adventure ! Be careful out there and make sure you update us on your travels. Make sure you have a good plan before you go as the weather in the U.S can get nasty at times.I drove across the U.S a couple times and had a few wake up calls along the way. Also when you back a large trailer up get out and check as you go. I recently bought a travel trailer and backed right into a tree ! Well take care out there and be safe . Tony

Hitch sounds good John- I got the heaviest one also- they told me it was to heavy for my first trailer- It wasn't- and when we went to the 32 ft. it was perfect- didn't have to spend a dime for new stuff cause I already had it! Man I wish you the best in your travels- THink about joining a club (good Sam is pretty decent) as a lot of places give discounts and will actually go out and help you if you break down or get lost or whatever!- Most important is to relax at the end of the day- That is why I camp- To relax- If your not having fun- then your doing something wrong!

Hi John, sounds like your great adventure is about to start. I stopped for gas the other day and this guy was filling up his motor home. I asked how many gallons, he answered 108 gallons. I asked if he stayed nearby. He stopped at a place down the road from my place. He said it was $35 a night with hookups including cable tv. I figured that is sort of expensive, being in California and pretty close to the beach. How does that price compare in other places? Just curious.
Good luck, and don't forget to take some pictures! Cal Cal
