Randy the most important rule in the black powder shooters community is
Never drink and shoot,
put the drink down the recoil could make you spill.. !!!!!

Here is where we have fun with the spin we are all falling for. A gun, is a long barreled firearm .50 calibre or over, minum bbl length is 36". An assault rifle is a cannon, with a cyclic rate of 300 rounds per minute, or more. A firearms permit disqualifies an individual to posess under the 2nd amendment. I love the Yuppie code Randy. They must be the ones who trailer their ride to Bike Nite, park around the corner, and trool up to the meet looking tired, with shiney bikes, and no wind burn.

Yep, those are the ones. If you see mine on a trailor, it's stolen, call 911. If you see me at Daytona, let me borrow your bathroom so that I can wring out my pants. Rain or shine, I'm riding! (however, I do tend to avoid riding in the snow when I can) ;D Oh, my so-called assault rifle is just an SKS with a 15 round clip. My old 1906 Winchester 22 holds more rounds than that thing (and it's much more accurate) lol

Doc: Thats funny *L*. When I was in the army, a rifle was a long -barreled firearm. Called my M-16 a gun once and found myself circling the barracks on the run with my "rifle" at arms length in one hand and my privates in the other hand shouting at intervals " This is my rifle. This is my gun. This is for fighting. This is for fun!" Guess my DI had different definations than y'all *L*.
Bike Randy: I knew we had some deep thinkers her *LOL*. Words to live by!

Sabre, I am glad I am not alone! The big difference, I had to march to each barrack, draw entry permission, stand in front of each barrack and shout the Basic Training Awareness Drill. Instead of running, we had to stand at attention, display each item, announce each one, and recquest permission to return to duty. We then had to go to the next barrack and repeat the performance. Then came the pushups. I hated basic, and A.I.T., but, it all saved my life over, and over. Randy, snow is not so bad if it is not icey underneath. If it is dry powdery snow, it is just interesting. That is untill your thighs go numb, and your hand feel like they have been hammered untill they refuse to open or shut. I solved that by putting my hands in plastic bags over mittens. The bags would shred off after about 500 miles, but, the plastic kept the cold off the mittens so they could do their job. It actually did a decent job. The thighs, that was different. The skin gets so cold and dry, it actually splits! I still have scars. The knees stop really bending and when you go to refuel after a ride, between stops, it looks like you are weak as a kitten. I dropped my bike once fueling after going 300 miles with two fuel stops. After a while, the stops get closer and closer. Interesting enough, in the cold, on long rides, the coccyx does not hurt as badly sitting after fueling as it does on "good" days. But, try picking up a fork after 300, or 400 miles of 10 above to 20 below riding. After a while, your whole body starts shaking and it does not stop. Your body shakes so hard you cannot talk, drink coffee, and getting back on the bike is almost impossible. And yes, an handgun is actually a pistol, even an SKS is a rifle, but, in a court of law, the prosecutor will use the word gun, and if it is responded to by either you or your attorney either negatively, or positively, even if you are innocent beyond any doubt, you just hung yourself. Assult rifle is a specific term, loosely used now by "those" people to spread fear. I just finished my 1903-A3 Carbine. One of two ever made. I have yet to finish my Hawkin cartridge rifle, the only one he made. His great grandson gave it to me years ago, complete with termite eaten stock, and full blueprints! He only made one, Gemmer had just left his shop, and he was in business two more years then became fire chief for Denver Colorado. I hand ream my bbls, and hand rifle my bbls, I have the original chambering reams from the original Hawkin shop. I am still a long range target shooter, but, those will never be fired. Too valuable. Sam's great grandson, Sam, was also a fire chief for the Denver Colorado fire dept when I met him. He was so suprised when I told him his family history, I was the only one who knew the little bits, he sent me the rifle! She has a 28" X 1" octagonal bbl, chambered in 50/90 RIMFIRE! converted to cernterfire by Hawkin. It is based on the 1863 Springfield Haskins conversion. Original double set trigger, original sidelock, with the Hawkin trigger guard. The buttplate is german silver scheutzen style and it weighs 5lbs, the nose piece is german silver, the sights are Marbles spirit level front globe, with a Sharps rear stock elevating aperature. All german silver furniture, the ramrod is now steel, and the thimbles are german silver. I have gotten a piece of birdseye walnut to carve the stock and inlet the hardware. The rifling is 1/66 vs the Stoner M-16 is 1/16, and the SKS is 1/18. The muzzle was cut for target shooting, aka Creedmore. Flat muzzle with an inlet at the bore. It is browned, where the reciever and lock are caseharded coloured. Truly a piece of art. Finished, it should weigh 18lbs give or take. Definately a rifle to go on long walks with!
