OMG that's hysterical. We've had problems with bears before coming after our feed. Used to keep it in a galvanized garbage cans on our deck for convenience but learned the hard way that it's best to keep it in the garage. The bear busted all of our feeders and broke several huge branches off the trees. We had a bungee cord holding the lids on which he couldn't get off so he folded the lid in half and still got to the seed. One of the garbage cans was dragged over to our neighbors spilling seed all the way along his escape trail. Amazing what you have to put up with when you live in town!

;D Oh, I can sooo relate. I have about 8 feeders in the yard every single one is damaged in some way.

Would be interesting to see how a bear would react if a rope (like in the pictures on that page) were made of bunjee. He'd hang, be lowered to the ground... would he let go of the bungee rope, maybe get smacked by the feeder as it flug back up? Would it try climbing it again, and again? or would he give up?

And I thought the raccoons were a nuisance! (They brought down my feeder last nite.) Thanx for the new perspective Alice. Joe

I wish I could send that photo to a phriend of mine! She is a bear lover, never having met one up close. How do you send that photo?

just copy and paste the link into an e-mail. All she'll have to do is click on it, and the page will pop up for her.
