Just got back from the eye doctor...he said I have two cataracts in both eyes. The two in the left eye need surgery soon...so I am scheduled to see the surgeon first week of Jan for that. The right eye will also need surgery but can wait. For those of you who have not had an eye exam in a number of years..please take the time and go get checked out. My last exam was in 2001..and they should be done every year...just one of the many exams we tend to put off until it's too late..

that sucks, Pho, but at least you will be able to see better after the surgery. my mom had hers done and still needs to wear shades in the direct sun, but she says her vision has really improved.
thanks for the advice on the eye exam, too, good luck!

I'm sorry Pho, good thing you found out now and they can be removed. I have'nt had an eye exam for several years myself. I suppose I really should get that done. Thanks for the reminder.

I never had cataracts, but I once had an ulcer on my conea. Had it treated just in the nick of time (Would have lost my eye if I let it go for another day)
Man that was nasty! Took about a year before I could look up at the stars again (my eye was just too senstive to look at any kind of light... and no, I'm not joking when I say looking up at the stars was even too bright). Had to wear an eye patch 24/7. Just couldn't take the light.
Hope it goes easy for you pho. I'll keep you in my thoughts

Pho, Sorry to hear about sight problems. Just to let you know, it could be a good thing. My mother in law, father in law and my dad all had the cat surg in the last couple of years Every one of them told me they wished they would have known and had it done sooner!! My mother in law is now known by her new nickname of "eagle eye"! You even mention it and she gets the biggest grin on her face and is soooo happy that she had them removed. I was told it is such a slow process the way they develope that you don't notice the change. Good luck to you and I hope you have the same great outcome as those in my family have had with the surgery!! Bill

Yoiks!
I've been blessed with decent eyesight all my life but that makes me really want to go in for another exam since I can't quite remember the last time I had one!

LOL, I had never gone to see an eye doc until last year. Me and the whole family have better than 20-20 vision, I'm 18-16 and my older brothers is 10-8. I went in after I found out I had diabetes, and I'm all good. Did some reading on the subject a while back and found that vit. A can do wonders for peoples eyes, in some cases, high levels of vit. A did more than the docs could do w/ surgery. So take your vitamins!!
