This is gonna be the last one for me for a while. Too expensive & grueling for my current financial & phyisical state. I got an ex-military on my team now so it should turn out better this time... I'll see you guys again sometime Sunday or Monday maybe???

Well, it's been three GRUELING days & it's not over yet! There is DEFINATELY plenty of suffering involved. Remote locations, long hikes, minimal sleep, NO rest. To top it off, there are three WRONG positions for every RIGHT position that will contain a clue bottle with four more positions, one having the next clue bottle hidden at it & three "dummy" positions that have NOTHING. This pattern goes on & on. I still don't know how many stages there are to this suicide race but no teams have posted a first place win yet so this could be going on for DAYS or WEEKS! My partner & I are currently trying to finish the fifth leg of the race but after searching all four positions we did not find any clue bottle so I hit the trails again at 6:45am (first light) to see if we missed it on a steep mountain top or in a remote coastal park reserve. We determined that one of the dummy positions is in fact under water and another one is on private property. There is also the possibility that it met with foul play or an act of Nature/God. TTYL

Not sure who is more insane, "The Team", who devises these contests or the teams who compete I can tell you that my team finished in a winning position mere hours before my partner had to be on a plane to Halifax but I can not disclose any more information until the official announcement is made on VIGPS when the remaining teams still in the race have all finished... We came, we saw, we suffered, we conquered! Check the forum for stories & updates: www.vigps.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=443and check the photo gallery for pictures as it progresses. vigps.com/coppermine/thumbnails.php?album=31

OK, the cat's out of the bag now anyway so I will say that we won BIG TIME! 1st prize of $1000 Cdn!! It wasn't about the money, it was about the respect & prestige! Well, and the personal satisfaction of completing it.

Cher, that unfortunately got split four ways, but it wasn't about he money, I was just shocked to see CASH in the envleope! These guys mean BUSINESS! Parfive, what's the matter dude?! Never seen Canadian currency before? We have the cutting edge of counterfeit protection in all our bills & our colorfull Canadian money is so much nicer to look at with it's pleasing artwork and it's easier to sort out than those ugly greenbacks of yours that all look alike! ...and yeah, it was pretty intensive out there. My whole left leg was a write-off for several days afterward. Only three teams have finished so far. The other two are doddling along taking lots of pics as they go, trying to win the prize for the best photo documenting. We were racing though, so we didn't stop often to take fancy pictures while our competition was out blazing the trails. There's another one on the 27th but I'll be starting my move-out/in around that weekend so I doubt I will be able to compete, even though my partner seems ready to jump back into it already.

The cash is OK, but I'm most taken with the background... not many places in Canada that can boast green grass in late January. Ah, who else but another Canajun would focus on that?!?
