Hey all,
Being rather new to the tumbling hobby, I was not paying that much attention when I ordered some rocks for tumbling. I ordered a few types of agate by the pound. They look beautiful, but they are literally 1-lb chunks, not broken up at all. I have tried taking a hammer to them a few times, but I am not having any luck breaking them into smaller pieces. Do you have any good ideas for breaking up large rocks?
Thanks! Amy

Amy A good rock hammer and a large heavy piece of iron (to use as a base), put it on cement, and whack away. Get a husky guy to help you. I don't think there is any other way. If you put the rock on the cement with out the iron base you could damage the cement. GOOD LUCK!!
