It's not a life or death situation, but my dad's having a bad time. He has had several very painful problems in the last 6 years and each one has compounded on the next. My mom called me tonight to let me know he is going into the hospital in Atlanta tomorrow for tests.
It started with a knee problem, (eventually had to have his knee replaced, after several painful surgeries) then he ruptured ed 3 disc's in his back (degenerative disc disease, he wasn't lifting anything, they just blew) a problem with his lower intestines (for some unknown reason, they flipped over and it took major surgery to correct it) and now the other knee is going out. He has been in constant, excruciating pain for 6 years and it has worn him down both mentally and physically. Now, he is afraid to move. He is afraid that everything he does will hurt. He is literally paralyzed with pain. He is going for tests for both pain management and depression tomorrow. My Mom has been such a trooper, she has been there for him (and everyone else that needed her) from the get go. Please send whatever positive energy you have to spare to them both. It breaks my heart to see my big, strong Daddy in so much physical and emotional pain. All blessings are appreciated.
I've never done this before, but I would like to send my parent's Email out, if you feel so inclined to send warm wishes.

Oh Cookie, I'm so sorry. I know exactly what you are going through, my father has had both of his hips replaced and needs a knee replacement too now. He is in constant pain and can get very cranky. Sending prayers and good vibes your way and to your parents.

It sounds like he's doing the very best things right now, the various pain management techniques can be very effective though he may have to be persistent until he finds what works best for him. And depression in so common in cases like his and can be paralyzing in itself, I'm so glad to hear he's getting both issues looked into. I know it's hard on you too, ((hugs))

me too cookie! and i'm sending lots of sympathy as i don't do pain well at all and it would definitely depress me to hurt all the time. let us know if the pain managment does any good at all for him. the retired counselor side of me really would like to know if that proves to be beneficial to him.

You're doing the right thing. Sometimes asking people to send good vibes and prayers are all it takes. At least you have the faith that if other's combine their faith too that we can make a difference. I believe this with all my heart. My prayers are heading out to your family and Cher's and Sands and other's here that are hurting too!!! ( Neph too after hauling all that scuba gear and green jade up and down the cliffs....LOL.)

Poor guy! hope the tests go well, Cookie and that they can bring your dad a margin of relief somehow. it always amazes me that the medical "profession" can expect people to live with such terrible pain for so long and can deem it "acceptable".
