just got a call from the hospital a few minutes ago. My husband finally came out of his coma. The hospital said that after running many tests, they said that he has taken too much insulin in such a short amount of time without giving it a chance to work first. When his sugar level went up to almost 400, that was caused by a mistake that I had made. We had cranbwerry glazed chicken. When I put the sugar in the glaze, I grabbed the wrong kind. I was not paying attention to what I was doing and put in my sugar. Well he was combating the high blood sugar with his R insulin. The doctor said that it only takes 15 minutes to take effect. Tim thought that you could retest after 15 minutes and take another shot if necessary. The doctor said you have to give it at least 30 minutes to see if the level is coming down. If it is, then retest every fifteen minutes to see that it is not going to come down too far. Taking that extra shot dropped his sugar level too far, and he fell asleep. When I could not wake him, I called the ambulance. Everything is okay. They are going to keep him they said for probably a few more days to monitor his sugar to make sure that everything is okay from being in a coma that long. They said that usually they can be brought out of it immediately. So I am going to go to sleep now finally, and then go and see him when I get up. I just could not sleep until I heard something from the hospital. They sent me home after going back to the hosdpital again late last night. They let me see him for awhile, but told me to get some sleep and come back in the morning, but I just could not do that. So I stayed up and waited for their call Like I told them to do if there were any changes right away. I want to thank all of you that showed concern over his health and safety. That really means a lot to me. It is going to be sometime before he can get back into his groove thing though. He has always been a worker most ofhis life holding down two full-time jobs, and performing marriages (ordained minisdter) and doing his hobbies. Then when he became disabled, that really hurt him bad due to him being so active. So he started up on all of these other hobbies. He has always knitted though for 30 years or so. He is a very active person, but now needs to rest. I will let all of you know when he is coming home. \Thank you. LOve Cindie (tmorris6654's wife)

Glad to hear everything is going better. What a scary experience. Sounds like the worst is over. Thanks for keeping us updated. The way this year has been it's good to hear things turning out right for a change, even if it's from an on line acquaintance.

Good to hear! My grandpa's diabetic & he is lucky enough not to need regular insulin shots as long as he watches the blood suger levels. It's been awhile since I was tested so I guess I should go in myself since my odds are about 1-in-6 I will get it too.

More money for rockhounding = happy
Medical bills = empty wallet, divided by SUCKS + rockhound = bad
1 oz. prevention = 1 lbs. cure multiplied by 'mo money' + rockhound = slabs for cabbing... = Good!
