Just got back from Florida - was very cold - thought it would have been warmer considering it's much farther south than Canada.... was very cold for a sunny state!
We had a blast! visited all Disney parks - Twice and even 3 days at Universal. My 10 yr old daughter went in all the rides she could and my 5 year old son went into the "Tower of Terror" (the 13 floor elevator drop) twice - he went in all the scary rides he could go on and had a blast! - We all did but the weather was very cold - didn,t bring enough long pants & too many shorts! but it was a very enlightening experience - not sure I'd return again as it wasn't as much fun as I remember from 11 yrs ago... I must be getting old!
Glad to be back & hoping to catch up sometime soon, once I get into my warm bed with my own pillow...

Gee Tweety, Sands and I are only a few hours from Disney World! Maybe next time. Glad you had a ball, Disney World is certainly comprehensive. In spite of all the negative hype of Rat Town by the locals, it doesn't happen anywhere else like that. I bet you missed home.

Welcome back Tweetie! Glad to hear you had a great time. Too bad it was cold though.
Now that you're home, go and get your shovel! Over 41cm fell while you were gone.

Welcome back Tweety, glad you made the trip there and back safely. Sorry you had things chilly but as long as the kids had a good time, that's what counts.

Hi guys, I was thinking of you guys the whole time I was there. There were nice rocks (stepping stones & all sorts of big nice rocks - some looked like that biggs jasper) all over the place and I told my daughter to look at the nice rocks they had there and she said I should have brought my chisel & hammer to whack some of them out so we could bring some home! (That's my girl!) My daughter bought a bag of tumbled stones ( ) (I have to admit they're much better than mine were) they had turquoise, tiger eye, sodalite (which looked a lot like my sodaextralite) and some amber-like stones, some of that sparkly copper colored rocks (can't remember the name) Alice, my neighbor (bless him) shoveled our driveway before we got home - he had his work cut out for him as we're on an inside corner and the snowplow gave us the jackpot of a snowbank at the end of our walk (may have to give him a gift for doing that!) Kim, my favorite rides (all the scary ones) Tower of terror elevator drop, the duelling dragons (suspended twin rollercoasters that almost crash into each other at one point - amazing G force on that one - shaky legs upon exiting), The aerosmith roller coaster, a tower where you are flung up and then bounced down on a pole-like structure (daughter loved that one and went on twice with me - hubby chickened out), the mission mars was pretty cool too (a flight simulator of a space mission) the soarin' ride is very nice a 180 degree screen where you are "flying" through the sky Doc: we rented a van (cuz there were 8 of us) for the first week as it was cheaper than getting a taxi to go to Universal for my family of 4 since we were going for 3 days to Universal. All the shuttles to the parks were included as were staying at one of their all star Theme hotels (not bad for the price) but Universal is a bad word at Disney they don't provide transportation - so we got the car - we had no days of break! 2 straight weeks of parks, shopping, one day of swimming at a water park (I swear there must have been only canadians there cuz we were the only ones who though that 68 degrees was weather for swimming!) The park food was ... um... repetitive - after 3 days of park food I was looking for salads or skipping meals (I lost 5 pounds!!! woohoo!) only so many burgers, chicken tenders and hot dogs can be eaten before stomach rebellion kicks in! It,s funny as even McDonald's food is different than what we eat here. Couldn't wait this AM to have my breakfast here for a fraction of what it costs there to eat. I will try to post pictures of the trip soon - I must have taken over 500 pictures (love those digital cameras for that!)

Its always interesting to see what other people have to say about the rat and the universe
I worked the street as a character / entertainer / salesperson at universal in 97 / 98 .
The act we did at ren fests got picked up as part of the islands of adventure thing and we did live auditions in universal proper first few months.
so seeing other people for the first time and hearing what people think after only one or two visits is something i like for perspective. The funny thing about both disney and universal is theres so much that people miss, shows, food, even rides(it really does pay to ask a o town local or park reg what and where) but being 30 min away from busch gardens now thats where my annual pass resides.

Boy you're lucky to have a neighbor like that Tweetie! The guy across the street from me was prancing around showing off his snow blower, to everyone on my street. When he finished his driveway, he put it away and went up and down the street bragging to everyone that he finished his driveway before everyone else.

Stefan, I didn't have time to visit nothing but Disney & Universal Studios - out of 15 days, 0 days were free to lounge, it was go, go, go all day, every day! I'm pooped & exhausted, I need a real vacation now! My parents are taking the kids during the week while they're on Christmas break - now that's gonna be our holidays!!! We're still working but no kids! woohoo!
