The wife look up the new list at her work, the one with addresses, in Kenosha there is 4 zip codes, and just in our zip there is 139 sex offenders, 2 within 1 block of us. I have been trying to talk her into moving out west to live in a cabin out in the woods, where there is no one for miles. I hope she really thinks about it now. Another story, this last summer, her 13 y.o. was walking home from the library which we can see from the dinning room window, (maybe 300" away) and this grease ball followed her home, trying to talk to her, she walked across the street from our house, then darted back to our front porch, this guy followed her the whole way. I got home and called the cops after going to the library and talking to them. The cops found out who he was, on probation for something else, but back in the 80's he was busted for sexual ass. with a weapon. The dirt bag does not have to register on the sex offender list because he got in trouble before they started the list. We asked why he wasn't grandfathered onto it. No answer. He is supposed to stay away from kids under 18 so now he is spending 6 months in jail. I'm glad I didn't see the guy, I'd be in prison right now.

Rules are set up for those who wish to follow them Those that will not follow the rules..there is nothing you can do for them. It is a sad statement of our socieity but a cold hard fact. We gotta watch out for our kids every second of the day. I say there is only one way to deal with that sort....an ounce of lead delivererd at a very fast speed....

Wow Edog, I don't know what to say... Damn. Would the girl consider taking martial arts classes or at least self defense lessons? Carry pepper spray perhaps? What is wrong with these people?? Where do these clowns come from?? How do I find the list? I'd like to check on my own neighborhood. Joe

The wife works for the county child support, as an enforcement agent, and has access to all kinds of neat records. You can pull up your local police dept. on line, they may have a link, or dept. of corrections in your state, or even the state police, may have a link. You can always do a google search, as sex offenders in ------ your state. Now that the bill has passed, they should have their addresses listed also. I know Wisconsin does, and has their picture, and what exactly what they did. offender.doc.state.wi.us/public/

Don't get me started on this- We have a local preacher who "hides" behind his title- Was kicked out of his own house for -as his wife put it "inappropriate behavior with the children" another preacher defends his actions by saying "sometimes people get into this [Preachin] field because it gives them access to vulerable people" Makes me sick- the guy is in Mexico for awhile (hiding from local law enforcement is my guess) But I'm with you Earth- If he come poking around- I willl be going to Jail!

Good girl, Kim... They should have a prison on an island like the prison of French Guiana to put all those freaks on so they can't touch anyone else.

I did some checking when my daughter moved to Iowa. She lives in a small town and there were about 17 of them in that town. I'm sorry but I have no time for the perverts myself, I'd be taking them out to the woods nekkid and tacking their jewels to a stump, right next to a fire ant hill. Then walk away telling them to "have a nice day". All this right to privacy bull crap, they lost that the minute the molested someone, it should be law to tatoo "sex offender" right across their face! You can also go to www.fbi.gov/hq/cid/cac/states.htm

Thanks for the link Kim. There are 157 of them in my area! I don't even have kids but my friends and neighbors do. This is truly sickening. I had no idea there would be so many.

Please folks, remember this, in order to become a registered sex offender you must commit the crime, you must be caught, you must be prosecuted and convicted and serve your time, and then you must comply with the law once you get out. So ones you see actually registered represent only a portion of those out there offending. There are alot more offenders out there than you'll find on your state's website. It's good information but doesn't mean that everyone else is OK. No child molester ever offends just once, and none are ever rehabilitated. Period. I deal with these folks all the time at work when they come in to register, the hardest thing for me to get used to was that most of 'em look just like everybody else, and it's never their fault...

Laura is right. I use to work for a law enforcement agency for over 26yrs. There are more sex offenders out there than you can imagine! First there are those who get caught and prosecuted for the offense. There names are added to the sex offenders lists and they must register. There are those who register their address as HOMELESS. Which makes it very hard for law enforcement to keep tabs on and track down. There are those sex offenders which are protected by their family members or others. I've seen several cases where it was kept a secret for years in the family until someone finally spoke out. Alto of times, the victims aren't believed by their parent or their parent refuses to act upon it. There are those sex offenders who haven't be caught and through the system yet. I believe it is a big problem! Weather you are a little girl or a young lady, your best offense against it is to be defensive! Always watch over your little kids and always be aware of your surroundings. I have sex offenders that live near me, but you know I never see them. I am aware they live there, but I have yet to see them. Trust your instincts! If you see someone acting or looking strange, go the other way. I can remember when I was a young girl. This strange guy would follow me home from school several times in his car. I was terrified to say the least. What was even stranger, is years later I ran into him at the corner drug store near our junior high school. It was a very strange experience. It was like he knew who I was and I knew it was him as he had the same car. He was just a slimy geek who needed a bath! I thought to myself, you little jerk! You tried to scare me all those times by following me home from school. But, you never caught me! HA! All I can say, is teach your kids well about strangers. Knowledge is power and how to protect themselves as you can't be with them at all times. I agree everyone has the right to live where they choose, but it does make you feel very uneasy. There are boundaries where they can and can't live. If they keep making them tougher, they aren't going to have any place to live. Lastly, the other problem is there are just too many of them for law enforcement to keep track of. There are those who refuse to register or lie about their address. Only to find out they are living right next to you. I think it's like any other criminal. If they choose to commit another crime they will do so. It's all about the choices they make. I think the real answer is to make the penalties alto stiffer! If you commit a sex offense you serve all your time. If you commit a sex crime and murder or 2nd sex crime you get life! We have a guy in our city that commits sex crimes with sheep. He has been arrested twice and he still hasn't changed. You have to wonder about these types of people and what is going through their minds. Why they do the things they do escapes me...Oh, I forgot to mention that sex offender information is PUBLIC INFORMATION. You can go to any law enforcement agency and ask for it. You can also look it up on line!

Debs-
Great post and very well said and written. It's just not girls we have to watch either. Heck, I played college athletics and while walking down the sidewalk I had some guy drive up beside me and show "it" off to me. I was 22 and it caught me totally off guard. I was so stunned that I forgot to even look for his license plates. Wow These freakers are everywhere. My buddy lived in Ohio and went out and bought this HUGE freaking knife. When I asked what that was for he said that some guy was following his daughter home and he was going to kill him. I believed my buddy would've done it and don't blame him.
Sorry we live in such a crazy world.

Definitely not just a concern for just girls as you said Gaetz.
In a little farm community just a few miles over I found out they had one living right across from the school (grades 1-8) for quite a few years. I was stunned when all that came out in the open just a few years ago at a class reunion. This was going on when I was in school. Sounds like just about every boy over there was approached by this guy. The kids never said anything when they were in school to an authority figure. they just talked about it among them selves. He moved when his victims started to get old and big enough to lynch him, but from what I gather his still out there some where down state. Sickening.

I agree. Anyone can be a victim of a sex crime. There are alot of sick people out there that need treatment and supervision. The other concern is mental institutions don't want to keep them long term and think they should be mainstreamed. I agree with mainstreaming, only if they are ready!

Trouble is, sex offenders will never be ready ... that's one leopard that doesn't change it's spots.

So true- And that is where the problem lies- It is a mental illness- not treatable- Even castration does not stop them from still attempting to hurt others! Anyone see that news special where the men were enterning a house with the hopes of hooking up with teenage boys? THey busted rabbis, school teachers, repeat registered offenders- Very scarry
