Whatever happened to Customer Service? I need an A/C adapter for the camera I just bought. The store, best buy, didn’t have it at the store and said to get it online or call the toll free number. I called, finally got through to a person who looked up my camera order on her computer and confirmed the model of camera, and then promptly sent the wrong part. The part says right on front what cameras it fits. Mine ain’t one of them. Ok fine. I tried to call best buy’s customer circus service number. It seems none of the available options includes talking to a human. Even the sales line didn’t answer their phone. After 20 minutes of this I hung up. I took the camera, adapter, and all back to the store where I got the camera. After a half hour wait on the return line (there are A LOT of people on this line. Why didn’t I notice that when I bought the camera?) and explaining it to 2 employees they agreed it was the wrong part. I waited another 15 min. while he went online to get the part number. Finally he comes back and tells me to drive across town to get it at another store. Ten min. later they gave me a refund. At home again I went online to their web site to write all of the above stuff in a complaint form. As soon as I hit the “submit” button I got a message that, ”the page was cancelled”. Other than wasting half my day I really don’t know why I am so ticked off over this, but thank you for letting me rant about it. Now maybe I can let it go and lighten up. Thank you for listening. Joe-(a FORMER best buy customer) PS- I STILL have to go find the adapter! But not today.

hey joe i got my home computer from them and they told me it had 512 mem and could be upgraded later to double that another 512--- when i tried to upgrade it i went there and bought the memory stick and took it home and tried to put it in there was no slot to upgrade the memory so it went around and around with the store and home office they said well what do you want us to do i said give me what i paid for i was told it could be upgraded and it cant with out a mother board exchange--- they said theres no way to prove what you where told when you bought it ---i said well when the guy looked my computer up in yours it gave him a number to put in an extra mem card and you sold it to me -- so what im thinkin is you must have the wrong info in your computer cause your salesman told me it could be upgraded and then another sold me the card to doit so what are YOU gonna do for me ,, so then i get a letter sayin you musta have gotten one of the older models that couldent be upgraded -- and theres no way we can prove what you where told at the time of purchase so we consider this matter closed -- thanks for shoppin best buy -- hahahaha that was the last time i went in one of there stores that was like 4 years ago --- i dont care if there givin stuff away hahahaha

When these knuckleheads give ya grief like this, contact your state attorney general consumer protection division. They will check out your problem and usually ( not always) the company will take care of the problem just to get the AG off their backs. I've had to do this several times and it always has worked for me.

Yikes, we just had a Best Buy open up here this past summer. I've never gone in there, and from the customer service reports I'm reading, I don't think I'll ever go in there to make a major purchase.
I've always bought my computers from future shop, and when ever they would say something like "you can increase this or that" I'd get them to do it for me on the spot. Only once did I run into the same problem as you Sands. But they were caught dead in their tracks when I showed them the bill that was less then 10 minutes old. They had no choice but to give us a new computer with the specs we wanted for the same price. It's how I got my current computer (HP Pavillion 1020) for $250 off the asking price.

Joe, you go right ahead and rant, it's a good stress reliever and definitely good for you. Keeping that "poo" inside is not good for the heart, your health or your soul. Do what Xena said, contact your state attorney general, that's what they are there for.

--JustSayNo@bestbuy.com-- I do solemnly swear to never enter a best buy again. I don't think that I could the cops on them over what seems to boil down to incompetence. I just believe the stores should care more about the customer after the sale is made. Oh well, as the man sang, "The times they are a changing". Sands- maybe the first thing people like us should get is a tape recorder to record all the rest of our transactions with! Then when they say you can't prove it...

joe when those recordings come on i just keep hitting "0" on the phone and eventually it sends you to a real human. try it next time. sometimes you have to do it a whole lot but eventually it gets you through.

Stand out front of their store with a BIG sign saying how they do not honor their word. Keep on them....and the more people around when ya do the better.

Kim, a lot of these automated voice companies, are getting wise. It doesn't ALWAYS work now. If a company has an old sysytem "0" will work, but now they're changing the number to 9, 3,5,6, etc... Try hitting "0' on a new system, and it'll say "Thank you for calling ____, have a nice day" and it hangs up on you.

thanks alice if the "0" doesn't work i'll try those other numbers. amazing they would go to that much trouble to keep you from talking to a real person. what have you ever called that you were able to really get assistance from a recording??

Only when I call the number for the time and date does it work right!

Kim, try the "0" first. If it hangs up on you, just call back. But you have to listen to the recording and which number to push. Each company is different.
I'm wondering why they're changing the "0" code? Are the operators complaining that people are calling them? Isn't thair job?

yup best buy sucks, bought a palm pilot a while back from them, got the best buy extended warenty. Well the palm dies with about two weeks left on the warenty and long story short, they give me about $20.00 off on nrxt purchase. I told 'em there would be no next purchase. Wish I had the brains to call the ag or better business but by that time I would probably been arrested for assualt and battery

Our Best buy is so freakin load- (bunch of teenage knuckle heads working there- all they do all day is play with the stereos) so i go in and the music is frakin BLARING- so I go and start turning off all the stereos- Guy comes over and tells me I can't do that- he was listening to it- I tell him I am the customer- and I am responsible for his pay check- He goes and gets the teenage manager who asks if I have a problem? I explain about the headache from the loud music- he just shruggs his shoulders and explains that the music is for demoing- and the stereos have to stay on- Well I happened to be carrying a couple of hundred dollar bills (very rare for me) and I pull em out and say- "guess I'll spend these somewhere else then" man oh man they followed me to the door apoligizing and everything- Have not been back since!

you guys should try getting customer service from sears. we got a riding lawnmower from them, got the extended warranty and everything, and they treat us like crap. the belt breaks, and the guys sent out to fix the thing stand there with their cigarettes lit doin nothin until we go out there and ask why they arent fixin the thing. THEY NEED A PART. SO THEYRE STANDIN THERE DOIN NOTHING! then they come back with the part a week later and when we tell em that we wont tolerate loiterin or we'll call their supevisors, they call me mom an f'in b. and we dont buy things from sears.
and dont get me started on Kia. don't ever buy a car from kia and expect it to live more than 50,000 miles, cuz after that nothing in the stupid car works.
whatever happened to the good-old days, when people were honest and hardworking, and cared about their customers?
