Yippee! The shortest day of the year is over! I've had enough of 16 hour nights. Bring on the sunshine and long days. ...sorry, I just had to get that out!

I've never got used to the longer days down here...when I was growing up, up north, the days were so short and yet I really liked it. It seemed like...well...home. Anyway, I'm not complaining about the light...but it does show how much i need to vaccuum!

Come on daylight. I rather cut grass than shovel snow. Merry Christmas. Pete

I love the shortest day of the year, that's like the happiest day for me just because I know that more sunlight will be coming into my days. I really hate these short days, I don't know how people live with it for long long periods. On or near January 25th sunset will be after 5:00 again, then you really start noticing the extra light. And I love how it's stays light out until almost 10:00 at night in June. I can't wait!!

To continue my grumpy disposition I will say that the shortest day of the year just means I get more light to look at all the freaking rain clouds and grey skies. I GOTTA get out of WA!

OH Xena- We have had NO SUN in over a week- I hear ya- I can stand the shorter days as long as I see some sun- Today we have a bit (hurray- makes me want to strip down naked and run around in the snow!) But day after day of snowy grey skies- Gets very depressing- gets me real irritable- good thing I got rocks Yesterday!

You ought to see how miserable it is down here! Everybody is putting Christmas decorations on their palm trees, and tinsel on their orange trees. What a dreadful contrast, orange fruit, tinsel, Blah! I miss Alaska. You did not need tires on your sleds.

On a side note, the shortest day shadow will give the secret to dead solar south. When I built my solar home back then, I went on Dec 22, took two sticks, and aligned the shadows. This gave me solar south. Musings from a feeze dried hippy.

It's all behind us now.
Longer days + warmer temps = rock hounding trips (yeah)
