I woke up this morning to find that nearly all of the roads up in my area are closed. It rained last night leaving a quarter to half inch of ice all over. The sanding trucks had to put chains on and have to drive backwards to get the sand and salt down on the roads. They can't even move with chains, they just slide off into the ditch. It's just amazing listening to the scanner right now.
You guys east of me, keep an eye on the weather!!

Wow! Here it is supposed to mostly sunny and 50 deg. today (heat wave!), but it will be short lived. It's set to rain, then freezing rain and snow by tomorrow night.

We are suppose to get the same thing here in Iowa tonight. Not looking forward to it at all. I hate driving on ice, let alone walking on it!

With the ice, it's time to go to a big parking lot, like at the high school and do alot of doughnuts, and try to get the kids dizzy.

It warmed up here to about 6 or 7C today. Right now it's raining, and our snow is melting.
My son is asking "Is it spring time already?" LOL

Well, while you're boxed in the house hiding from the elements, SLC, Utah is experiencing a heat wave. Needless to say my backyard ice rink is only a memory and I'll probably be golfing Saturday afternoon. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted and the kids had a blast.
Stay warm and safe out there you all!!!!!!!

We're pretty good here... for now. It's been on the warm side so the rain isn't freezing, except the side roads that are snow packed. But we're losing all our insulation (snow) with the rain and I imagine when that happens we'll get the 15 - 20 (or worst) below zero.
As much as I hate the snow, I know we need it for January/February.

Supposed to hit about 35° today with freezing rain again. I know what you mean Joanna, we lost about 5 inches yesterday and will lose more today. Much as I hate snow, it is much preferred to rain in the winter time.

You know, much as I hate winter, I see pics in warmer areas and it just looks weird to see Christmas decorations without any snow. I'm working on a whole new area to live in. Perfect weather, about 70 with a nice gentle breeze. Rain only when you request it, like when your hunting agates and your tongue gets tired of licking rocks. Snow at Christmas, starting on the 23rd, disappearing on the 26th. Beautiful green grass with no weeds that grows thick and lush and only 2 inches high ... never needs mowing. Special area for rock collecting, all you have to do is think of what kind of rock you want to collect that day and there they are. Yeah I know, I'm full of poo but a person can dream right?
