do those things carry rabies? If you get bit, do you have to go in for Raby (spelling?) shots

alice, any mammal can carry rabies. If you get bit by one (or any wild animal for that matter) its prudent to get rabies shots. But that is rare. More importantly, they carry salmonella, and spread it to the local bird populations, which they also hunt. Personally I wish they had stayed in the south where they are part of the natural ecosystem. Here in the northwest they are just another pest, with attitude.

Here in the coastal northwest, the unwelcome visitors are black bears and grizzlies....although, in their perspective, I'm sure we're the unwelcome ones! The possum is just a wee thing...I can only imagine how scared it was.

I just read about how Possum Migrated North- where they often lose body parts to Frostbite- see thay are not equiped to deal with the colder temps and to dumb to move back south- so Mark is correct People and Possums- Dumbest things on the planet (course those moths that fly into candle flames ain't to bright either!)
