My PC was starting to make some odd noices so I decided to be safe and take it in and have it checked out. The people at best buy said no problem..it's under warranty.... Onle problem...I had 48 other people ahead of me so it will be a full week before they can even fire it up and listen to it. I am using a lap top right now...it sucks...I want my pc back...

Whats wrong with a laptop? I'm using one now, have been for 3 months now. I have my cordless mouse plugged in, my joystick plugged in for my racing games. I can do everything you can do with your desktop...

Might like it if I had a new one, the one I have is so old it's older than dirt. I think it was called eniac. Battery keeps falling out, hard drive is about 5 meg, only the button mouse that works parttime. ;D You could send me yours and let me try it out, I'll let you know if I like it. *smile*

My pc has a monitor that is 17 inches...the lap top is small..very small... I am so used to having my pc that now I have to look at the keyboard just to type. Lap tops are ok for a little while and then only if you are checking mail......

Hopefully it will make the noise when they get to it, and hopefully it's only something simple like a bad cooling fan. It sucks that it will be a week before they even look at it.

Pho-
Has your PC been moved lately or have you opened it up and done some work on the inside? Sometimes a cable will fall on the fan and will cause a horrible noise. Don't take it in just yet. Pop the hood on that bad boy and see if you can determine where the noise is coming from. My guess it's near the cooling fan. Take a look for cables brushing up against it. Clean it out w/ some canned air maybe that'll help. If it's a cooling fan issue, their easy to replace.
I hope you can fix it on your own and don't have to pay someone $50 bucks to put a cable tie on the wires or something. You could use that cash to buy some Bots or something else cool.
Take care,
gaetz

And if it's not a cable resting on the fan, one of the screws on your case fans might be loose. Just the constant vibration will do that to them.
Or it could be your processor fan.
Once the case is open, it's VERY easy to figure out where the noise is coming from. And once you've figured out the cause, it's also very easy (and inexpensive) to replace the parts yourself.
