Should we remove members who are inactive for an extended period?

I really think removing members is a bad idea. Unless there's some compelling computer-based reason, I see no reason to. This isn't a closed club and just because someone doesn't post, doesn't mean they're inactive. I think it would be offputting if I were to be deleted just because I never posted.

Herm, they don't need to post anything. All they need to do is log in. Some people haven't logged in at all since 2003

Granted. But why remove them? What purpose does it serve? Is there a higher purpose at work here? Is it the electricals? Is it just for the hell of it? Is it because we don't think Mark has enough to do, what with providing us all with the board, photographing mice and waiting anxiously for fatherhood to hit him full in the face like an angry north wind (Just kidding Mark...parenthood is nothing like that...really). I just am not seeing the point to removing people. Someone tell me what I'm missing.

(so ok, I'm slow. I just recently figured out why people say they're rock lickers. I'm still crackin up over that one!)

see? You either smile or pee yourself. therein lies their power I guess. But honestly? I don't have a clue.

HERM---LMAO____ Electricals- well I once asked doc about em (free advice- NEVER DO THAT!!!) they are the evil demons that feed upon Human thought- they live in the wiring and have dentist implant tiny chips in your filings so as to better control you- It get pretty complicated from there- Lets just say TInfoil hats will jam the signals- and ummm ohhhh duuuu eeeeee......... (guess I said too much!) And as for deleting- non posting members- well NO NO NO- It just is not fair- I mean they may come back- and if they do would it not be nice if they had a plate at the table?

If you don't log in for 3 years, chances are that you forgot your password.... so you create a new account ... what's the point of having an account that's never going to be used again? It just takes up useless space... like that shirt in your closet that you've had since highschool. You'll never wear it again, so what's the point in keeping it?

I tried saying electrical over and over again. And I both peed and laughed myself sillier.
But I was prepared - on the John at the time. I know more than you needed to know.
I'm certain there are a large # of members who read the threads but never post. I vote not to delete members for not posting. Maybe they don't have anything to say or are bashful or just want to learn about their hobby.

No board I am on deletes members. They may ban them, and I HAVE been banned from worse boards than this, I assure you, but it is pulling teeth to get anyone to actually remove you from the roster.

Hmmm...I don't remember paying for my membership!? Deleting is a bad idea. Take Trylobite for example. He was gone for well over a year, and just recently dropped in to say hello. Who knows, Riverotter may pop in some day and if she can't log on cuz she's been deleted, well, you get the idea.

Ed, what about those accounts which were opened in 2003... Last log in time was in 2003, and they have 0 posts. What are the chances that they're gonna pop in and say hi? Nobody would know who they were to begin with.

Free memberships! I paid for mine! With blood! (okay I got a stone chip cut...but I'm still counting that!). Vive la 900 members I say! Long may we reign!
