Interesting.
Not really enforceable, though, especially if the person doesn't want to reveal their identity on a messageboard. Email addresses are easily obtained with limited information...it would come down to IP addresses. It's a bit farfetched to have ISPs giving out customer information - especially for dial up customers - when all they've done is post something inflamatory or annoying.
I can see it now - a person walks into their lawyer's office and says, "Aardvark382 called me stupid repeatedly yesterday. It really annoyed me. What can I do about it?"
(I apologize in advance if there's a realy aardvark382 lurking in the shadows. I do not mean to annoy you by using your username. Please be kind.)

Yes, I totally see your point though it might do some good for a situation where one person is "annoying" several others at one time. If you have several people who can attest to the fact that one person has been purposely annoying others on the same group it would probably work. Like the guy who wrote the article, the word "annoying" bothers me too. There's so much that can be called "annoying", I think harrassing would have been better, or threatening. Annoying is a little too broad of a term.

It makes me wonder why the original draft of the bill was scrapped for this draft. The original version does sound not only more enforceable, but more sane.
Why do our congressmen do these things? Why can't bills and porkbelly politics just be separate issues?
Grrr.

Why do our congressmen do these things? Why can't bills and porkbelly politics just be separate issues? Grrr. Because they can. Personally I don't think that congressmen or senators should be allowed to serve for any longer than a president can. I think that's bullpoo! All they do is sit there and get richer and screw the pooch with their porkbelly crap. That and the fact that they have their own social security and don't have to try and live on what regular folks do. Perhaps if they did, they'd take an honest look at it. Oooooo what I said! Slapping me, sorry I just have a real problem with those crooks.

Uh uh. Term limits would force out fantastic reps like Jay Inslee. And John Conyers. And there are hardworking sens like Ted Kennedy. I am a bit miffed about Robert Byrd and his support of Al-Lie-To but he's been a staunch defender of the Constitution (which is why his support of the aforementioned is still mind-boggling to me).
But I agree with you on their retirement plan. They should have to draw Social Security just like the rest of us. Maybe then they wouldn't be so damn quick to gut it every year. My mother said the raise she got this year doesn't even keep up with the cost of inflation.

I met my husband online and he annoys me sometimes. I think jail's a bit harsh, but do you think congress could send him to the garage for a while?

Bit by bit your civil liberties are being revoked....if your in the US... Did this generation forget the sacrifices our grandparents made to protect our freedoms??
"If President Bush truly believed in the principle of limited government (it is in his official bio), he'd realize that the law he signed cannot be squared with the Constitution he swore to uphold."
I'm amazed that the people in this country (USA) would rather impeach a President for sleeping with his intern and lying about it....but not a president that lies about our reasons for entering a war that has cost Trillions of dollars and thousands of lives...and he has no regard for the constitution...I'm just a little 'annoyed' by that!
I should stop now before I get arrested....imagine that! What 1st ammendment?

Bush annoys me. Can I have him sent to jail?
Everybody annoys at least one person. At this rate, the entire US is going to be jam packed in one jail cell. Bush had better start building more prisons!
I can see people's law suits now... "Why do you want to sue this person?"..."I don't know, he / she just annoys me for some reason... That's illegal now, so I want him / her in Jail". Then that person will counter sue, and they'll both be in jail.

I could see a case where an annoying person tries to rip people off though on the web - that could be cause for a test case (if thats how it works). Like say I log in as Fred Smith and ask Cher for a shipment of rocks to my address but false name - then Cher would be ripped off if I dont pay her (and annoyed at me - originating from the board). Interesting though. Glad Im logging in as Mark now not Andy

It's simple really. They are mostly all lawyers. They make stupid laws so that if they lose an election they will have all sorts of work to charge people for. They can "have their cake and eat it too"! With all that lawyer work to fall back on, it allows them steal, cheat have fun with interns, what ever. How many of us could drive off a bridge drunk, leave your "date" in the car under water, go home and have a good nights sleep before returning?? Reps/Dems/Inds a bunch of crooks and low lifes! Not too many good people have the stomach to hang out with such a bunch!
