I'll have to spend a couple of days reading all the threads I've missed to catch up with what's been going on with you guys. I took a week off of work and went to Tucson. The Gem and Mineral show was great, but I wasn't too impressed with Tucson. It reminded me of a little mini Los Angeles...dirty, smoggy. I also drove down through Tombstone and on to Bisbee. Loved Bisbee. I spent a couple of days in the SE Az desert, slept in the back of my truck with my 2 rockhounds and it got really, really cold at night...like, 19 degrees. My 5 gallon water jug froze solid. Probably won't do that again - take care everyone. It's good to be back. Susan

WB Susan, glad you had a good time, too bad it got so cold. I suppose living down there you don't have a good heavy sleeping bag either. Sounds like you had a good time anyway.

Ha ha ha, Cher! I had 2 sleeping bags (including a down bag rated to 15 degrees below zero) and several quilts, and both of my dogs under the covers with me, and we still froze. It would have been warmer if I had pitched a tent because the ground retains the heat better than the back of the truck, with nothing under it but air. It's a trip how it can be 65-70 in the desert during the day and then freezing-ass cold at night. There was a nearly full moon, too, so it was super bright. Needless to say I didn't sleep very well. I was really glad to get home, take a long hot bath, and sleep on my pillowtop mattress. Next year I'm getting a room... Susan

Bisbee is definitely a cool town. I was out there in the late '70s. Did you get a look at the open pit copper mine outside town . . . just a little hole in the ground.

Hey Susan, glad you're back! Sounds like my kind of trip. I used to just pull off the road and sleep on the open ground. If it started to rain, I'd just wiggle under my truck. I was never one to indulge in luxeries (like a tent). Ron

Yes, m'am, Kim. I do have a computer now. I signed my life away for an HP Pavilion Media Center Edition from Circuit City. Not sure if it was a good deal or not, but they were offering a $300 rebate. So far I'm liking it. I never realized just how much I depended on my computer until I didn't have one anymore...and my friends who pay for their computer time by the minute weren't pleased that I was "borrowing" theirs on the weekends, using up all their time checking on my RTH buddies. As Sands says, hahaha. S PS: I have a new e-mail address, so if anyone needs it send me a quick pm.

Glad to see you back and even if you froze, it's hard not to be a leeeetle jealous of the trip!
