I found out yesterday that I did not get the job I had interview for. This is 0 for 2. I cam in 2nd for the job in Oregon, and now it looks like this company has decided to re-advertise the job at a more entry level.
There are still a few things in th works, but this was the one that deep down I was thinking I was going to get. Another one coming up this week, but I have been cautioned about the people I would be working for - don't know what to make of that. Still got one more in Oregon that I almost ready to send off the application, but I don't know what my chances are.
Just a little sad. Even the rocks look a little less shiny today.

Aww Daniel, I'm so sorry. That's so disappointing to have the feeling you'll get it then don't. I'm sure it must mean there's just a better job waiting around the corner for you. Have patience, just like when you're polishing stones, you'll shine your best when the right one comes along.

Thanks guys.
I was so looking forward to some major equipment purchases and grand rockhounding trip. I really thought they were offering at least 12k more than than similar jobs. In fact, I think they are advertising it right now at the BS level instead of the MS level. I'm not sure but I don't think they hired anyone. In a way, it is what I would have advised them to do if I was not an applicant.
Tomorrow I will finalize applications for a teaching positions, one in southern Oregon (rocks, rocks, rocks) and the other in upstate NY (snow, snow, snow). There is also an opportunity here at Penn State that might work out pretty well. BUT none of them will be as easy, pay as much, or involve such an enlightened employer as the one the just passed me by.

Hang in there Daniel. The fact that you didn't get the job is only the Company's loss. The one you do get will be the right one and is worth waiting for. Hang in there guy, hang in and have positive thoughts.
