You know what? This thread reminded me how much I like this site, forum whatever you call it. Most or maybe all of the people on here can get on touchy subjects like this, and still come away friends, not attack a person directly. Most of all they can go back to being down to earth rock hounds still helping each other, and being friends. Terry

Yes I have to say I was pleasantly surprised, receiving a PM from someone on the opposite end of the political spectrum explaining he was just attacking my ideas. I knew that but I thought the gesture was very sweet.

that was nicely written Daniel, i must admit i was a victim of media stick poking....it does seem that CNN has their own agenda at times.
i want a new planet....consisting of good people and great rocks.

Thanks KD. In hindsight I think there was a bit of hyperbole. (e.g., fat, greed, $200 jeans ... etc.). I was not feeling well; but I do maintain the basic thrust.
I think CNN's agenda is to be an excitement junkie. They run with something like a dog with a new toy. (I don't think it is overtly political. Fox might be.) The problem is when viewers tune in with the expectation that they will get a jolt.
I heard from the conservative commentator on Jim Lehrer NEwsHour (David Brooks?) that the story was broke by a very conservative radio talk show host who was only interested in causing a fuss.
I would support legislation that limited ownership of any "strategic" industries, utilities, or operating leases to companies incorporated in the US with majority shareholders as US citizens. I mean if we have US longshoremen actually handle the containers, why not US personnel handling all the operations. - Just don't single out one country or nationality to ban, because that would smack of putting US Japanese-Americans in camps during the war. We aspire to be better than that in this country.
But, this would cause a lot of inflation. We have become very dependent on foreign investment. Somethign we prefer not to think about too much.

Opps my bad there Offbeat..... Daniel you calling me a phobe? Xena - No, not you. I was speaking to the issue, and forgot I began by quoting you. I truly regret if you felt it was a personal response. I was reacting to the $$ comment as a starting point, and suggesting most folks did not have the right sense of this thing - but my xenophobia remark was directed at the generic popularist gut reaction against an Arab country. I am sure many individuals have these prejudices, but the actor I was vilifying was more the mob or the group - which seems to descend to levels lower than most of its members as individuals. It is funny how xenophobic starts off with the same letters as Xena. BUT no pun or inference even remotely intended.

Its all good bro, I was trying to be silly with a play on words * Hands Daniel a pretty flower* On the other hand, having a phobia about Xena is understandable, she was quite the fierce warrior... ;D ;D Sorry, got a serious case of SMARTARSE going....

Well, there is an extremely good chance of impeachment hearings starting next year if we can change congress.
